I was changing my plug wires, and plugs as well as lubing my axels today and noticed there was some wear on the inside edge of my front tires. I figuered maybe the tie rods were going or I just needed an alignment. Ball joints looked good as well as the tie rods. The steering was were I might have found some issues.
With the tire installed, and moving the tire in and out from the right and left side of the tire as you face the tire, I found that i got a small amount of play on the steering bar. The movement is found on the 22 mm bolt the shinny one, it moves up and down slightly.
The other thing I found is there is some movement on the steering rack. It appears to shift between the mounting bushings when I turn the wheels left and right with the steering wheel.
Is this normal? Driving down the highway, I am getting some vibrations, not bad but noticeable, from the front end. I will be get the tires rotated and balanced, but wondered about these parts. If they need to be replaced, I figured I would replace them before getting an alignment.
