I do most of my driving in the city/hwy, but wanted to have the option of hitting the trails every now and again.

I opted for the BFG All-Terrain T/A's. Comfortable ride in the city, solid on the hwy (not noticeably loud), secure in the rain and great in the snow.

They look great and wear well.

I too am in the market for new tires - 52K on the stock Dunlop AT's.

I do occasional light - to - mild off-roading (3-4X/year) and would like something that works fine on the hwy and also in the dirt/small rocks; mild slopes (e.g. CO mountains).

Costco has at $70 discount going thru this Sunday on Michelin/BF Goodrich. So. potential choices:

1. Michelin Cross Terrains ($219/ea)
2. Michelin All-Terrains LTX A/T 2 ($200/ea)
3. BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A ($214/ea)
4. BF Goodrich Long Trail Tour ($148/ea)

   The Costco guy didn't recommend the BFG All-Terrain. Said it was definitely work, but it's a heavier tire (i.e. 1-ton truck), noisier, crappier mileage, etc. Said if I wasn't planning on carrying heavy loads, then not recommended.

I had them on my Range Rover sport, and yes they were a great tire much, much better than the shitty Continental Sport contacts it came with. Great in the snow and on the beach and pretty quiet also. If you want a more aggressive tire then Id say go with the ATR.

I got Hankook Dynapro ATMs today, not bad for the cost...$687(all installed package) and i get a rebate of $143. You should check it out, Nissan, Toyota, Ford SUV forums liked it. Check the reviews too . Just my 2 cents.

They look like BFGs TKO and performs just like it as well.

thanks for all your responses.... I live in VA and do not do off road driving with my runner, I use it primarily for daily commuting. I am just looking for a good quality tire that works best on rain and snow. btw, I am about 55K with the stock tire...hehehe...

Goodyear Fortera TripleTred ... I've had them on my Honda Pilot and now my 04 4Runner. FANTASTIC in rain ... best tire I've ever used. They are supposedly great in snow too. They have a uni-directional design, so they look cool too.

i just bought the Bridgestone Dueler Alenza's a couple weeks ago and they seem to be a great tire...65k tread warranty. I paid $800 installed at my local tiresplus shop...I also got the tire warranty for $10/tires since they are such expensive tires. I have a 2005 v8 limited but I got the raised white letters like the sports have--love the way it looks...i posted time pics in the tire forum here if you want to take a look.

PS i wouldn't have bought the general grabber HTS if they had them in stock locally (i needed them right away). both the alenza & the general hts get great reviews on tirerack.
