I have searched threads and can find largest tire size for up to 16" rims. I have 17" rims off a newer 4Runner. What is the largest tire I can run on a set of 17" rims? I have a stock 2001 SR5. Currently running 255/65/17 they are dry due to the desert sun and need replacing before I take a mini vacation with my wife. Last thing I need is a blowout in the middle of nowhere on the way to a cabin I have never been to. :deadhorse:

Well you could go to say Discount Tire or most any tire shop to ask them. They'll install and do a 'swing' test to ensure no rubbing (under normal use).

Luck and enjoy the trip! :cowboy:

If you are comparing to 265/75-16, 265/70-17 is almost exactly the same. That's the largest 'easy to fit' size before you have to start cutting and/or modifying. There can still be a bit of rub on the front fenders if the alignment isn't quite right (have the shop max out the caster and this will go away).
