I love my black 12 LE. Shined up, dirty, muddy or cruddy. It is still beautiful. When it is dirty it has that rugged look.
Also own a black 535i. Beautiful when dirty. Absolutely eye catching when spit shined.
Don't let all of the haters scare you away. If you see one that catches your eye, go for it. You won't regret it.
If you do, I can take it off your hands at a discount sinceI just love me some black.

I had absolutely no intention of buying an attitude black 4Runner but the deal was too good to pass up and money talks so...
I'm not a super clean freak about it it's not a big deal for me but I do hit the car wash more than I did with my last truck. Honestly the color has really grown on me so no ragrets.

If you don't mind a dirty looking vehicle or are meticulous and will clean it yourself, go for it. One other consideration, if you park outside, is the heat, especially at altitude during the summer.
I've had a few black vehicles over the years. During the winter i just accept that its going to be dirty and do my best to maintain it during the warmer months. Optimum No Rinse will be your best tool.
Final thought - the 4R has large body panels. Just more surface area to manage. Way more tedious than a small car.

My thoughts. Get the color you want. Black vehicles are no harder to keep clean than light colored vehicles. The dirt and paint imperfections show up more on darker vehicles, but are still there on lighter vehicles. It all comes down to how much you want a spiffy looking vehicle and are willing to keep it looking so. The same arguments against black 4Runners hold true to mag grey, blue, and red, so your choices may be limited to silver or white if you are adverse to dirty vehicles. I really like white vehicles, but all of my SUVs have been black for some reason. :noidea:

I'm torn... currently own Attitude Black 2014 TEP... biznatch to keep clean (like hundreds have & will say), and, shows every. single. mark, scratch, swirl when you are close to the vehicle. Bird shiotes on it and you don't get it off within minutes, etched into clear coat.
But DA'YAM if they don't look fookin' bad-a$$ when they are cleaned up. I know I'm in the minority on this forum, but like the look of the clean black vs the gray valences (which is why I choose to get the aluminum RCI front skid, to keep that lighter color continuum up front). Little lift, slightly better "stance", and these trucks look perfect IMO. But to each their own.
Now then, having said all this... my 2011 was silver. Boring... but holy crap, that paint didn't show ANYTHING. Period. Knicks, scratches, dents, road wear... nada. About the only thing you ever noticed was grimy road tar. Easiest paint in the world to maintain. But, again, kinda boring.
If I go 4Runner again in a few years, think I'm going dark grey (again). Then black out all the trim and wheels. I still like that look.

Got the best deal on a 16 blac
k trail. When it's clean and shiny it's great. When it's not you can just see where the mud is easier....

Get what makes you happy...or whats available. I did not plan on black, but I love it. It is a PIA to upkeep, but thats part of the fun and I think you have more pride in a way because it is a PIA to upkeep if that makes sense. Mine is blk and I wish it was white but the deal was too good to pass, it suck when I was living in the desert and now am in the east coast and it rains twice a week so you get the idea, I just gave up in keeping the outside clean

Get what you want! It really doesn't matter if you don't mind scratches in the paint. My only beef with dark colors is they show dents easier. If you actually use your rig, it's inevitable in the long run so I could care less anyway. My white Runner has scratches down to the primer and they stick out like a sore thumb compared to the same scratches on my black Tacoma. Either way there are pluses or minuses just get what you really want and be happy with it...

I had a black 2011 Tundra DC. I washed it once a week. Quick washed it two times a week. Dusted it daily. No scratches, no swirls. Problem is, I got married in 2003. So I'm not mormon and didn't want two marriages. A few vehicles later I'm in Mag Gray. I learned a few tricks detailing that truck.

We got a black 16 a couple of months ago. Its beautiful but as pointed out it is hard to keep clean.
We wheel a black jeep, we don't care about scratches, they do show but if you don't care it does not matter.
Our 4runner has the blacked out badging and we tinted the driver and passenger side windows to match the rear glass tint. Sure looks good. I'd do it again.

Did you know we ALL have blue eyes, it's true. Google it.
White, Grey, Black (or my all time fav Inferno) - they all scratch the same, swirl mark the same and smell the same. The difference is the darker the color, the less giving the paint is to poor upkeep and cheap car washes.
I'll take the Pepsi Challenge any day of the week on sexii and right with my black 4Runner sitting next to another, lesser color.
