Tollway Transponder Placement

I just purchased a 2015 SR5 and I have to place the tollway transponder on the windshield. Can anybody recommend the best placement. I don't want to mess with the navigation system and the compass. Thanks in advanced!!!

It depends on what kind of transponder you have. In Florida, we basically have two types.
- One is electronic with suction cups and can be placed pretty much anywhere. (It's also portable to other vehicles.)
- The other is an RFID sticker that is about 2.5" x 2.5". It sticks to the windshield. (It's more or less fixed to one vehicle.)

I have the sticker-type of 'transponder' and placed it directly behind the rear view mirror on the passenger side. I can't even see it when I drive because the rear view mirror is in the way... which is exactly what I wanted... no interference with my view.

I cant speak for your state but in CO they can read it even if its in your center console or glove box. I leave mine in my center console the whole time and get charged correctly

im guessing the nav antenna is some where in the dash, I wouldn't anticipate a tollway transponder to interfere

i have the sticker sunpass and it is right behind the rear view mirror

I just throw my I-Pass thingy up on the dash, works fine.

I also used the Sunpass mini transponder in Florida behind the mirror, 2 inched lower that the tint strip. No interference with anything.

I have a PA EZPass and I have it mounted behind the mirror in the dotted section. Never had a problem with it there and it's pretty hidden from my view.

Can be seen behind the right side of the mirror.

I just hold my EZ Pass up when going through tolls. I haven't stuck it to the windshield.

I'd vote for this route. This also allows YOU to decide when you want to be tracked. Put the pass in a passport wallet or other shielded type of enclosure and it will no longer be detected unless you specifically want it to be.

I'm sure you all know, but the city govt's also have sensors for these passes that have nothing to do with their intended purpose of tolls. I see them a lot on the freeway, but they can be placed anywhere for tracking purposes w/o any consent needed. But then again, the same goes for your smartphone w/o a removable battery - even when they are turned "off" (not really "off" ) they are trackable via cell towers.
