Too Much Lift from Icon 52700 springs?

I was surprised to see after installing these springs, the rear of the truck is 1-inch higher than expected. I wanted a modest lift so i wouldn't have to worry about needing a diff drop. Now i'm wondering if its required.

Any advice or shared experience is greatly appreciated.

How long ago did you install the springs? They do settle a bit after a few months of use.

Yup - forgot to mention they were just installed today. I was worried that the installer forgot to remove the 1" cornfed spacers but i checked the box and there they were.

looks good to me...not sure what you mean about the differential drop if the rear springs are higher though? are you implying you want to raise the front to level it out and are worried about that?

when loaded down with gear, my rear springs aren't heavy enough to keep the height...it's all a compromise, either too stiff unloaded, or not enough loaded down...i've thought about the icon 'overland' spring with the described dual rate, but have heard a spectrum of contradictory reports on how they feel unloaded

I run the Icon “overland” springs and love them. I’m heavy in the back with a rear bumper, but it rides great loaded and unloaded. If you’re stock and unloaded, it might be a bit much.

It'll settle. When I installed mine it gave me about little over 3" but after a few weeks it settled to 2" of lift.

give it a little time; they'll settle down a bit. mine ended up at ~2.5" of rear lift.

whats your center hub to fender measurement? I installed the OME 440lb springs, and had a lotta rake and 25" rear when unloaded.

I'm relieved to hear these springs are expected to settle with time. Right now the measurements from fender to center hub are

RD = 24.5" & RP = 25"

That honestly looks fine. A little rake is fine, you won't want a level truck. Once you load crap in the back it will bring down the rear anyways.

Keep in mind the springs provide 2" of lift and have a stiffer spring rate than stock. So it'll need a little time to settle.

I've had the 52700 spring with the 57710 piggyback shocks on my 4th gen 4R and have hated the ride from day one some years ago. 3" lift top high. Sitting on 33" ko2's 285\75\16 and rear is at times ominously bouncy on the road and sits high. Even 8 years later.
The "better than thou owner"of Icon dynamics who seems like he's in love with himself said " it will ride nice with 400lbs loaded".
I'm swit hi g put rear icon spring with a Bilstein that will also lower it 1 inch.
ICON ....NEVER AGAIN.

And I'm also unclear how to much rear lift would affect your front diff. A diff drop is done to reduce the CV angle of the front suspension after lifting. I would maintain it's unnecessary but others would disagree.

Yup most of the time most people won't even need diff drops, in this case definitely not needed. The only real few things to worry about on rear lifts is how much rake you want and travel length of the shock if going with a longer rear spring

I went 3” front and 2” HD rear springs and ended up the same. No diff drop.
It has a 1” rake that only kind of settles when I load it up camping.
I’ve gotten used to it and have only had good feedback.

Looks like you could raise the front and be OK. Or swap to a set of 1.5 springs.

I have ICON 52700's in the rear paired with Bilstein 5100's. Has never ridden poorly. No bounce, not harsh and settled to about no rake. Just slip in some SUMO helpers in the rear if I need to carry a full load.

Front is Bilstein 6112's at circlip 7 (KDSS)

I know this is years later, but am a new member and wanted to say thanks for this post (and thread). I've going back and forth for months trying to decide between the ICON 52700 vs 52800. I replaced all my shocks with 5100s and the front springs, but left my orig rear springs ('05 4R 2WD V6) and I don't have the front rake anymore. Don't want to get the 2" ICON and still not have the front rake, but didn't want to get the 3" and look ridiculously leaning over. Btw, my front 5100s are set at the lowest setting.
