There is a Handle in the rear

I just got the 2010 Trail 4runner with NAV/KDSS. Like you I enjoy using the back for sleeping when 4 wheeling. There is a handle in the back- (Supposedly only to be used in emergency's.) However, refer to page 595 in your manual.
It will show you how you can use it.:jump:

Right on, man! Have you used it? Are there any problems once the plastic film is opened? Is it going to cause problems if dirt gets in there?:thanks:

Uh, why do you need a gun for rattlesnakes? Are you some kind of yellow-bellied wimp? Just walk the other way.

So many people are so irrationally scared of snakes it makes me point and laugh!

I have personally used it and yet to have any problems so far. However when I am not using the back for sleeping, I put everything back as it was, to prevent dirt etc... from entering the mechanism.

Some thing else you might not know and find cool is..... If you go to your Toyota dealer or your nearest one. Then can program your unlock key to open all your windows (bar rear and sunroof). Its pretty neat!

All you have to do is hold the unlock key for 5 seconds.... and carry on holding for as far as you want your windows down.

Keep me posted if you do any mods to your TE.

Sorry for ragging on you. It's just a pet peeve of mine. I'm a professional scientist who works with reptiles and even some of my close friends turn into ladyboys when they see a snake. I've never understood it and because I know the animals so well I fail to see why people can't just go the other way when they encounter one.

There are some circumstances where a rattlesnake may take up residence in your backyard and concerns for your children and pets may cause you to kill it. That's a little more understandable but there are also many places (all over AZ for example) where animal control will relocate the animal instead of killing it.

With most venomous snakes, if you move it a half mile (or even less) it doesn't find its way back.

lol no worries, i understand your passion for reptiles and snakes which in most cases arent doing anything wrong. when humans and snakes encounter each other 98% of the time it ends up bad for the snake.


i got bit by a snake (not a rattler) when i was a kid and ever since been scared shitless whenever i see any kind of snake, lol.
