Torn Rubber

My dog has slightly torn the rubber seal that goes around the back of the car where the tailgate closes.
I was thinking to use some tire glue that have have for my bicycle as the rubber feels exactly like an inner tube.
Think that will work?

Ideas?

Not sure if this will help you but most rubber trim/seals on cars are made of EPDM rubber nowadays, so if the tire glue you have is compatible with that, maybe it might work? :)

I used black silicone to repair weatherstrip tears like that in the past and it worked great.

The rubber cement is worth a shot though- apply a thin coat to both sides, let it dry and carefully line it back up for an instant bond.

Only get one shot at it though!
