Tough Decision: Shocks/Springs or Spacer lift

google top4runners.com- its there along w all linds of his mods

Hey thanks there buddy, great find.

I'm going to start with the Daystar 2.5F-1.5R, and 1.25 spidertrax or suitable spacer. Later on ill upgrade the suspension depending how much weight I end up adding to the rig.

Thanks again

Eastlakeab4, understand that your spacers will probably NOT net you 2.5" or even 2" for that matter. You said that your Runner has 110k on the clock and thus, your front coils are sagging. I originally installed a 3/2 spacer kit on my '05 Runner and BARELY netted 1.75" due to my sagging coils. I kept this setup for about 10 months. It had no real affect on the ride of my Runner and the clearance I gained was a joke. So, in reality, it was a waist of time and effort. I finally decided to get more serious and install the Toytec Ultimate suspension kit. Now, we're talking! I got a true 3" of lift, had room to install 285's (read 33's), gained a ton of ground clearance and DRAMATICALLY improved the ride quality both on and off-road. Do not screw around with the spacers. Just bite the bullet and do the suspension instead. You will be happier when all is said and done. Spacers are purely for aesthetics and they really are not much good at that!

good post preacher- i went through this last year...actually had a daystar kit sitting in my garage for a few weeks...then i saw the light and decided to get a legit suspension...my runner is an '03 w 150k...so its time anyway

I'm leaning towards the Toyotec 3" lift kit, my question to you is: I heard rumours that the rear have an issue with cracking due to the factory bump stop. Did your kit include new bump stops for the rear? Or do you think this was a one off issue?

Second question, did you add like a 1.25 spidertrax spacer or something along those lines?

Thanks

Mesofluk, I have not heard of that happening to anyone so far. But, no, the Toytec Ultimate kit did NOT come with new bump stops. I've had my kit on for almost a year and a half with no issues.

Apparently it was an engineering issue on a with some of the early 4th gen 3" lifts. There new kits include a bump stop. I was just wondering if you experienced it? I assume it was under some sort of extreme load.

Anyways with a 3" Toyotec lift, does is stand flat? I know that Toy put a bit longer or stiffer springs on the drivers side. "Marked by paint colour", due to the battery, driver and gas tank weight. Did you experience this?
