Towing 7000lbs of trailer and sod on Friday

Other than loading the sod so I don't max out my hitch and still keep tounge weight.

I will have no trailer brakes, but the trip is 10 miles all interstate and since its Wyoming their is hardly any traffic here.

Is their any other concerns that you guys can think of?

Be sure to check tire pressure, specifically on the trailer, before you head out. Without weight a trailer's tires can look properly inflated - that can quickly change with weight... I speak from experience :bash:

Water the pi$$ out of it for 2 weeks. Especially the edges.

Keep your distance, especially when slowing down without trailer brakes on a load like that.

Is your T4R outfitted with the upgraded hitch? ie mounted to the frame rails and not just the cross member? If it's just the stock hitch it's only good for 500lb tongue and 5000lb max trailer wt. At 7000lbs with no brakes you risk twisting the cross member and damaging the frame. I was told it is not repairable. If its only 10 miles away why not make 2 trips and be safe?

After loading and unloading all that sod, my concern would be that you forget to drink beer sometime after.

I appreciate all the advice. I did do two plus pallets. It handled it quite well, the braking was interesting tho!

Now I know what 3500 lbs. of sod and trailer look like.

According to the guys at the sod farm, it was more like 5000 lbs of sod and the trailer weighs about 1100 lbs. It seems heavier when I was carrying the sod from the trailer to the lawn!
