towing Snowmobiles

hey all im planing to head up to Tahoe for this holiday weekend and i may have to do some towing while up there. all id be towing is a 2 snowmobile trailer the trailer it self is not very heavy at all and snowmobiles them selves are not that heavy just wonder will i be ok pulling these? i have the V8 motor and i have the tow package that came with it the mount and stuff am i good to go or is there anything else i need that i can get. i wont be pulling these from bay area to Tahoe it all be up there. oh and wat class of towing does the 4runner fall under 1,2,3,4

you could tow 7,000 pounds, stock.

your trailer + machines will probably add up to less than 2,000lb.

Agreed , you could pull a 4 place sled trailer loaded across the country and not even break a sweat with the v8.
 
sweet thanks guys i fig i be fine and V8 engine would act like was nothing just wanted some reassurance ive never towed anything yet with my runenr

Completely agree with Falls, I have towed a two place and four place trailer with sleds for the last two winters with my 4R. No problems at all! Just came back from the UP of Michigan last week on a snowmobile trip. The only thing I usually do is down shift to 4th gear from 5th, more often when the 4 place is behind but I still do it on climbs with the two place, to get the RPMs up. The 4R tows my sleds much better than my jeeps used too.

I am heading up for an ice fishing weekend tomorrow, with the 4R fully loaded, 4 guys, with Yakima Mega Warrior on top and hitch carrier on back, I will take some pictures, but this is my next cargo capacity test.

Do you have the correct wiring adapter to go from the 7 pin on the truck to whatever is on the trailer?
 
I could pull that in my 3.4L V6 without a problem.

Have fun in Tahoe. Don't do anything foolish on the snowmobiles and watch where you're going. There have been numerous deaths already this year from snowmobilers getting caught in an avalanche or going out there unprepared.

should be good to i fig i end up needing the adapter i can just get it from the napa auto near by or uhaul

Where are you riding at? I live in the Bay Area and tow my sled up there all the time. I ride at Yuba Pass up HWY 49, up pass Sierra City

i ride behind my house in national forest and after last weekend i was finally able to sled up angora ridge yeaaaaa!!!!!!!! but if i trailer i go to blue lakes

Did you do the Freeda loop ? ride up to Copper Harbor , did you go to Ontanogon ? did u notice all the old cars in the woods on the way to Ontanogon? Its unreal last time I rode through there.

We road to Houghton on day 1 I have not made the final trip up to Copper Harbor yet. Day 2 we did the Ontanogon, Silver City, Ironwood loop, Day 3 we road in WI, Hurly upto Saxon Harbor and back.

But yes the old cars are still in the woods in many locations near Ontanogon. Over the years I have seen many cleaned up but I swear some of them are from the mining days a long time ago.
 
when I was looking at some trail trips in the UP for snowmobiles I saw these photos of guys wheeling in the UP in the winter.

sick you ride at the pass.......i used to own a restaurant in sierra city called the red moose cafe...went riding all the time
