That's my kind of mod...but were there any actual gains other than the soundtrack? I'm always looking for a cheap couple of HP's and MPG's...

Since our trucks already have a CAI this mod just made the air flow a bit smoother and with the high flow filter and exhaust I'm sure there are some gains to be had. I would go as fr to say, this mod will give you the same results as a full TRD CAI. Given the fact that both the stock intake and TRD intake taper down to the throttle body in the last 4".

This mod was mostly for aesthetics, and if I do gain a little low end or MPG by accident.:shrug:..it was $235 well spent.

The aesthetics are nice, and I've always enjoyed the rumble of a MagnaFlow. Nice work! Let us know if you see any statistical improvements as well!

No spacers, jus used the wheels off of my 2010 on this truck.

Good deal. Thanks for the reply. Been looking to buy some new wheels for my 11 SR5, but my father in law has offered me his fj wheels like these for nothing. On 285s it looks like it may accomplish what I am hoping for. Thanks!

I might have some useful information for any of the 5th gen guys.
I really like the way the TRD CAI looks under the hood, and with a good exhaust the way it sounds when you go all read-headed step child on the skinny pedal.

I did not want to drop the coin on the intake on my 2015 since I did on both the 2013 and the 2010. So i found a solution that other might just be able to benefit from.



You order just the boot kit PTR03-35090-AD
and just the tube PTR03-89100-AA

It's not quite that easy.... you have to heat the tube and straighten the smaller end. Then you have to make a filler plate to seal the MAF port on the tube.

Once the two mods are made, you mount the tube upside down (TRD logo facing down).

not all that hard and you get a fairly clean looking intake.... I added an eBay TRD LOGO PLATE and called it a day.

BUT WAIT.......There's more...

I was so happy with myself after I finally got the intake to work, I decided to run to my local exhaust shop and get a magnaflow muffler glued in.

Later claiming on the forums I have gained 23 HP and 4 MPG..... PRICELESS

I forgot to mention you need to trim off the alignment tab on the air box lid and you will need a 90 degree elbo and a short piece of vacuum-line (1/8 I think) to finish the install. With the way you have to mount the sleeve on the throttle body, the tiny vacuum line will not reach the far side of the sleeve. So you need a 90 elbow to make it point down and the use the straigh fitting that comes with the TRD hose kit to extend the line and plug it in from below.

It's been a while since I updated anything. We have been very busy with the Tundra Build (will be in the Timberland SEMA Booth).

I just installed the new Hefty Fabworks ARB Compressor Mount (AVAIL HERE)

It takes about 5 min to install and give you a perfect spot for your compressor without having to make room.

The compressor tucks nicely into the corner like it belongs there.
