Toyo Open Country A/T II

The guy I talked to at the tire shop said that Toyo, Hancook and Nitto are all manufactured by the same company. The Nittos were made to meet a specific (lower) price point and the Toyos were a bit of an upgrade. He also said that it is very likely for the Nitto TG's tread design to be re-designed more like these Open Country's in the very near future. Granted, this is only one man's opinion, but he has been selling tires for over 25 years. I'll try to get better pictures tonight

Yes (265/70), yes (1.25" Spidertrax) and thank you. I've had those rims sitting in my garage for a while and I finally bit the bullet and bought new tires so I could get them mounted up. They look awesome to me) I'll have to get some full on shots tomorrow, it was already dark when I pulled out my camera today

Although, I do have to admit, they don't look quite as aggressive as I thought they would. (They still look awesome - i just thought they'd be more aggressive is all).

Duratracs, BFG AT's and MT's are certainly beefier than these, but these are silent on the road and will last much longer than the aforementioned options.
Honestly, I was looking for something more mild mannered, so these are perfect for me. They are more in line with the Nitto Terra Grapplers, Michelin LTX ATs, Goodyear Silent Armors, etc. If I had wanted something more aggressive/louder, I'd have gone with the BFG's for sure, I still love the way they look, but for the price & noise, I had to go for these

So are there two new toyo open country at 2's? These ones and a toyo oc at 2 extreme? I swear I've seen pics of at 2s with extreme written on the sidewall and a slightly more aggressive look more along the lines of the duratracs

I wish ALL the Open Country A/T II's look like this. In reality, I was seeing this picture, thinking that they all did...which is some of what pushed me to buy them. I'm not that disappointed in what my tires look like, because I couldn't have beaten the price and quality of tire. BUT....I was slightly mislead into thinking they looked this aggressive.

I wish ALL the Open Country A/T II's look like this. In reality, I was seeing this picture, thinking that they all did...which is some of what pushed me to buy them. Haha - i hear that from that pic. Still very nice tires for sure. But this thread takes me back to being torn between the Cooper Discoverer at3's and these Toyo OC at2's. Seems the Toyos aren't much more aggressive looking in the end.

I got the P. I discussed the LT with my guy because I do plan on towing a small utility trailer and (hopefully) a small pop-up sometime in the future. He said that the P rated tires would do just fine for the limited amount of towing I'll be doing.

Now that I know Dusty got P-rated tires, maybe I'm not dreaming. I feel like my tires (while still sitting in my garage) do look more aggressive. I got LT tires. Possibly the LT's have thicker sidewall lugs than the P-rated tires? I guess the only way to know is if I get them mounted and take some pictures.

You're probably not imagining it.
LT tread is deeper than on the P version of an AT tire, and the tread pattern, while mostly identical, often has a little more void (for instance, in the space between the shoulder lugs) which adds to the aggressiveness.

That sucks because I want P rated as well! I agree with the post above me, but it's a shame because the looks of the sidewalls shouldn't really be different between the two.
Twould be a shame if the P's look that much more docile..

Yeah that must be the picture. So does the LT tire have extreme written on it? Or is this just an old concept picture that toyo used?
Curious to see a side by side picture of the LT vs P rated.

I know a lot of people like the AT3's. My neighbor has a set on his Durango and I (personally) like the look of the Toyos better. I think they look more aggressive. Post em up when you get em, I'd love to see them on a Runner
