They aired them to 38psi from Discount tire when they installed them, so just left it at that for now. I drove on them about 300 miles this week/weekend all highway. 38psi seems fine to me. Now, keep in mind when they aired them to 38 psi, it was about 50 degrees out. This week we are in the 20s at night...mid 30s in the day time, so not concerned about 38psi.
MPG is the same so far.
The concern over time would be uneven center wear. It would be interesting to do a chalk test to see if you are getting a full contact patch.
38 PSI cold is likely too high and will result in premature and uneven wear down the center line of the tread.
Having worked in the service department of a dealership I can guarantee you that most tire guys don’t know jack shit about tire inflation pressures. It should be 32-33 PSI.

they'll be quieter. also from E to P load its gonna get way softer which sounds like what youre after.
Yeah, I agree, I lowered them to 34lbs the other day. I may lower again to 32lb after some driving.
Just put a set of 285 70 17 C load on my rig and so far they are great. Tracks REALLY straight and smooth, feels quieter than my old ko2s, and the C load seems to be a plusher ride. They look great, while not quite as aggressive with the sidewalls as the ko2s, I don't think they are lacking at all. Will update when they have seen snow, should get some next week.

I'm guessing, but I would think more mass and higher density equates to reduced ability to dissipate heat.

Quick review of AT3s coming from E rated KO2s. I got Toyos in 285/70/17 C rated, they are as quiet and comfortable as KO2s. They are amazing in the rain, much much better than KO2s, zero hydroplaning, great stopping power, super confident in the rain with these.
KO2s were better in the snow, they seemed to grip better, but not by a wide margin. On pure rock it's hard to tell still, need few more trips, so far they seemed on par.
The sidewalls look great, and the rain performance makes them worth it for me, snow trips are just for fun for me.. but we get plenty of rain, and KO2s were sketchy on freeway off ramps and needing to stop really quick.

I did a lot of research before changing out to Toyos. I ran 275/70/17 BFG KO2's for 16k miles on my Limited, and just swapped out here recently to 285/70/17 Toyo AT3s. They are P-rated, and I am SO much happier with them from a ride standpoint. I think the 275 E rated was overkill for my use - for me, they rode awful on a 4R and performed poorly/unpredictable in wet weather. Made the move for 1) Wet weather capability, 2) Ride quality and 3) A little larger. BFGs did kill it in the snow, I expect similar from the Toyos.

Awesome, had same 275/70 KO2s rated E because I didn't want to deal with rubbing and chopping the mount.. Felt so heavy, but were bulletproof on the trail esp sharp rocks. I finally got the chop and went with the AT3s at 285/70 rated C and now i have room to push my tires out for that instagram look lol.
KO2s killed it in the snow for me, didn't even had to air down, and had more grip in the snow then cars with bigger MTs. AT3s need to be air down to like 20PSI and then they are fine, obviously much better than stocks no matter what. I'm guessing similar would be in loose sand, since i think KO2s are made for that.

Any more noise comparisons to K02s? Especially someone who kept the same size and load rating from Ko2 to Toyo AT3. I see a lot of other guys on other forums (mostly 3/4 ton trucks) that say the Toyo AT3 gets noisy whirring above 60. Anyone else experience this. I'm looking at 285/70/17 C rated.
I'm running that size and load. I don't get noisy whirring or noise of any type from the tire at any speeds I've driven including above 60. I only have maybe 5k miles on them, but compared to the Duratracs I replaced (stock size load range C), the Toyo AT3s are silent. Maybe they'll get noisy with some mileage, but so far that seems unlikely.
friend just got these. not KO2's but replaced cooper discoverer at3 xlt. he said the toyo's are noticeably louder on the freeway
