Toyo Opencountry a/t2 VS Yokohama Geolandar G015

Hi all,
I am looking in to replacing stock tires I have on.

Narrowed down to these two brands.
My driving is 90% highway but going after a/t tires for looks.
I am going to keep the size stock at 265/65/17.

Can you share your opinion about Toyo vs Yoko?
Also are Toyo tires made here in the US?
I saw one Yoko today and it was made in Thailand.

I have run three sets of Toyo Open Country M/Ts over the last 6 years or so on two different vehicles E RATED. Excellent for rocky/sandy northern Nevada.

All of them manufactured in Japan.

Present set have 40,000 miles and are only 1/3 worn.

Don't know much about Geolander - Don't know anyone who has them around here.

Mine are used almost as much in the dirt as they are on pavement.

Not for looks - strictly performance.

If you want it to look good

Id consider a 265/70/17. youre only gaining an inch total and the width is the same. And if you went with the passenger or C load range tire the weight wont be much more. You may need to do some trimming but nothing huge

Those M/T tires mean business, and look nice while at it.
I'll just be an impostor with P/ rated ones

If you’re 90% highway, I’d say get the Yokohamas.

I have the G015s, size 255/75r17. They’re 32.1” diameter, compared to stock 30.6”. I didn’t have to do much trimming to make them fit without rubbing. They never rub. I also have the Toyos AT2s, size 255/80r17, as my “winter” tire. They’re 33.1” diameter, and took a lot more work to fit without rubbing. If I hit a bump mid-90° turn, they will rub a little bit. Another 0.1”, and I would have had to do the body mount chop.

I have had both on a Disco II. The Toyos outlasted the Yokos by a wide margin and were better in just about every type of terrain (including snow) that I ran them in. In fact, when I sold the rig, the Toyos were still on it and had plenty of life left in them, already having gone 15K farther than the Yokos.

The Toyos look better, too. :nod:

I have the Open Country Q/T Toyo tires on my 2014 Toyota 4Runner SR5. I love that it offers a quiet ride compared to the previous tires that I had. It has excellent traction and its stability is amazing. It's really worth the money!

Have the Yokos and love them. Would buy them again (as a longtime Michelin and Bridgestone fan)!
