Toyoguard BS at dealership...

Does anyone have toyoguard and tried to take advantage of the five free rental car days? I'm at the dealership now for my 20k mile service and they are telling me that they won't give me a rental car for the day for a service like this.

This is BS. Waiting for the manager to show.

From mytoyoguard.com:

Q. What about Rental Car assistance?
A. Rental Car service is included during the first 5 years/60,000 miles whichever comes first. Your vehicle does not have to be inoperable or require overnight repairs to qualify for rental car assistance. Limited to one day rental for warranty repair only, up to a total of 5 rentals within the 5 year/60K mile period. Maximum coverage is $35 per day. (Note: Warranty repair must require Toyota parts replacement).

I'm guessing that the for warranty repair only is the problem.

My dealer would give a loaner or a ride to and from work/home to help faciliate the service regardless of toyoguard. But that gets negotiated when scheduling the service because they run out of the loaners pretty quickly. In fact I would have to schedule the appointment on a day a loaner was available. Haven't done it in a while, but assume things haven't changed. If just an oil change, most of the time it is just a short wait and no loaner needed.

How is it BS if they're following the details of the contract? Warranty repair is covered, not general service.

My issue is the fast that the idiot at the dealership kept saying "if we keep it overnight, we will give you a car", but referring to they do that for any chump under warranty, not just a chump who had $700 tacked onto the window sticker for some "paint protectant", a few minutes to talk to someone, and a bottle of carpet cleaner.

I told him that the info said: "Your vehicle does not have to be inoperable or require overnight repairs to qualify for rental car assistance."

I also had them looking into teh driveshaft clunk and the driver seat TSB, which are both "warranty" items.

point is, the guy was an a-hole. and i will be speaking with the manager next time, he made things right for me the last time i was there.

also, the service advisor said "why dont you save those days for when it really needs something major"....to which i said "i hope to hell i dont have to have anthing major done i the first 5 years!"

just venting...:rockthrow:

I had a little paint scratch on my 12 LE when I picked it up and my Toyota dealership gave me a loaner for two days while they fixed it. Not really helping you I know, just saying.
My local dealership is pretty big too, they have at least 20 loaners so maybe that may be the problem too, they don't have too many loaners.
I do agree with you on the statement the servise adviser said "Save them for when something majot happens" I would have said the same thing as you, I expect nothing major to happen to the vehicle.
