ronsta said:Just to update everyone, I spoke with someone at the 800 # and they instructed me to fax in a cancellation request. I explained the reason why I want to cancel is because I am being charged $1740 for a 7/75 Platinum contract that is advertised for $1350 on their website here
but she just said that is nothing they can do since it was worked out between the dealer and me, what a load of crap. I would have kept it if she offered it to me at that price but she didnt even budge, I guess I'll have to wait and see if I can repurchase this in the future. If not I can always opt for GEICO's extended warranty for a few bucks a month.
Thanks all
In theory they are right. However, I hope you stated that this warranty situation is very negative in your mind and it's quite obvious the dealer over charged you. All that needs to be done here is the right thing. The right thing is for TFS to get a hold of the Toyota Regional Manager in charge of that Dealership and have him place a call to the GM or owner of the Dealership and just tell them to let you out of it.
But you need both Toyota Financial Services and the Dealership to do THE RIGHT THING!
I don't know how some of these guys who work for dealers sleep at night...I really don't!
If you opt for another warranty other than Toyota, be very careful. Many of these have gone out of business and people have lost big bucks.
For example, you can bet that GEICO'S warranty is not under written by them, but somebody else. You have to ask who under writes the policy, and then find out what they are rated. The ratings are A, A+, AAA, B, etc. Then find out in the event of the claim- who writes the check.
Also, most dealers will not accept a third party warranty. You will have to pay for it a then seek reimbursement.
GOOD LUCK!!
