Sorry my post was not clear, the following is what my Toyota dealer's service advisor told me by phone after I had left the 4Runner with them.
"never heard of Toyota Financial and the paperwork (the ID card and separate extended warranty statement, with coverage dates and price paid) does not have the 'proper' phone number to verify coverage and there is no (Toyota Corp or dealer) computer to have the (extended warranty) agreement number or VIN in..."
She made it sound like I was SOL so I took over the phone calling chore.
She was incorrect about the 800 number - it worked fine for me; you do have to navigate a layered menu system but once you reach the right person they can verify coverage from your VIN number.
I've had great luck with the service at my dealer in the past but this little lady was having a bad day and really had a hostile attitude going. It's understandable given how uncivil some people act when leaving their car for service. These folks take a beating. She did have the nerve to try to sell me the 45K service. Maybe she was pissed because I didn't buy it.
I recommend you call the 800 number soon as you get your extended warranty paperwork to be sure your VIN number has been properly recorded by the several folks who handled the deal. Also call them with any change of address information if you move.
They will also send you a replacement warranty card if you want one.
Anyway, in short summary: no problem, Shaun's warranty is good.
