Toyota Platinum extended service contracts...

Nah...I shouldn't have to chase anyone to give them my money.
Anyway, I just bought a 6 year 100K Toy Platinum Warranty for less than listed on this thread...locally! :biggrin2:
HOMEY HITS A HOME RUN!:p

Anyone used Shaun's PA Toyota warranty with success ? I'm in Atlanta (surprise) and just dropped off my car for a couple warranty repairs at my selling dealership.

This is my first try at using the extended warranty.

Off to a bad start, the paperwork does not have the "proper" phone number to verify coverage (the 1-800 num looked good to me) and there is no computer to have the number in...

And the service advisor says that even if it is good that the moonroof is likely not covered.

Well, it's too early to tell how this is going to shake out. $750 was a bargain - if it works.

Here is a list of what is covered........

TFS Coverage

Looks to me like most of the sunroof components are covered.

I live in NC and am a little concerned about having bought one from Shaun too. The Southeast Toyota Dealers seem to have a stranglehold on us. Let us know how it turns out. Don't give up easily!

Update:
Good News

It took some phone calling on my part to Toyota Financial but in the end the dealer replaced the driver door lock solenoid at no charge.

It was as if my dealer never heard of Toyota Financial. They have now!

Oh, and it was $60 for the sunroof fix. Nuts / bolts / clips / retainers not covered as per the stated exclusions.

Got the 6/100,000 mile platinum warranty from Shaun. Great deal and easy as a phone call. My dealer quoted me $1,500.00 ,no negotiation. Bye CH Toyota. :awais:

So what happened with the numbers?

You stated the 800 number wasn't good and something about the number for the computer?

So did Toyota Financial verify coverage?

How were the repairs approved under the warranty you bought from Shaun?

I bought one too and would just like more info.

Thanks!

Sorry my post was not clear, the following is what my Toyota dealer's service advisor told me by phone after I had left the 4Runner with them.

"never heard of Toyota Financial and the paperwork (the ID card and separate extended warranty statement, with coverage dates and price paid) does not have the 'proper' phone number to verify coverage and there is no (Toyota Corp or dealer) computer to have the (extended warranty) agreement number or VIN in..."
She made it sound like I was SOL so I took over the phone calling chore.

She was incorrect about the 800 number - it worked fine for me; you do have to navigate a layered menu system but once you reach the right person they can verify coverage from your VIN number.

I've had great luck with the service at my dealer in the past but this little lady was having a bad day and really had a hostile attitude going. It's understandable given how uncivil some people act when leaving their car for service. These folks take a beating. She did have the nerve to try to sell me the 45K service. Maybe she was pissed because I didn't buy it.

I recommend you call the 800 number soon as you get your extended warranty paperwork to be sure your VIN number has been properly recorded by the several folks who handled the deal. Also call them with any change of address information if you move.

They will also send you a replacement warranty card if you want one.

Anyway, in short summary: no problem, Shaun's warranty is good.

I just purchased the Zurich extended warranty through my Local Toy dealer the offer on here seems much better.

Can the Zurich warranty be canceled? If so who do I cancel it through?

Thanks

You should be able to cancel it within the first 30 days and get a total refund. After that I THINK it's a prorated refund. There should be a phone number on there that you can call?

I am considering an extended warranty for my 4Runner.
I noticed on the TFS web site under components things like timing belts, ball joints, tie rods and a host of other items are listed.

Has anyone had something like a timing belt replaced under an extended warranty?
What about other items that are replaced as part of the normal maintenance schedule, are they covered under the extended warranty?

Most of those items you are describing are considered "wear" items and are not covered. It's like you wouldn't expect them to replace your tires ;):

I appreciate that the items I mentioned are "wear" items.
That is why it seems odd to me that they appear to be covered.

When one looks at the Toyota web site as to components it seems to indicate they are covered:

https://www.toyotafinancial.com/con...eLabel=pg_VSAComponents&selectedComp=Steering

https://www.toyotafinancial.com/con...ageLabel=pg_VSAComponents&selectedComp=Engine

Just wondering if people who actually purchased the extended warranty have used it and if they had any of these or other "wear" items replaced?

So -the question is - Do you have to wait until the timing belt breaks? If so, I believe the V8 is an interference motor, this is no good. It appears that the wear items are covered. Does anybody have a contact at a Dealership to clarify this?

Contacted and provided all the info including CC number to the OP a month ago to purchase an extended warranty for my 05'4runner sport. Called him twice to inquire the status of the purchase, got no real response till today.

I don't know why a purchase of warranty will take that long!

Just got my 6/100,000 service contract from Shaun. It took about 3 weeks to get it, but I couldn't be happier with the transaction. You can't beat a real Toyota warranty for $750.

Original warranty expired, still bought the Plat. extension

I took a leap of faith and just bought the Plat. extended warranty from Shaun - 45k miles on my '04 and I paid $1500 for a 4 yr, 50k mile extension.

I hope that was legit!

I know I could have gotten more years and higher miles on a third party warranty for the same money, but my gut feeling told me to go with Toyota Financial Services to avoid hassles at the local Toyota dealership.

Anyone else buy one after the original warranty ran out?

lyrebird - contacted Shaun before Christmas to purchase VSA for my '05 - took about four weeks to receive the paperwork - all is well and good. Be patient.

Are those prices for the Toyota Platinum Warranty? Thanks My dealer was trying to charge me $2000 for the warranty.
