Toyota Replacing my Tranny in 2011 4Runner

Glad to hear your getting taken care of. Mine has the slight shudder also, but it has done it so long that I have gotten used to it now and hardly notice it.

Mine has never gotten any worse so I have not taken it in yet. I'd like to see how this works out and then make a decision on what to do. I have a hard time believing that they are going to replace the transmission in everybody's truck that has this problem, because I've seen quite a few just on here. But I could be wrong, please keep us posted.
 
Same issue

Bzizzi, Did you get 4runner fixed? Mine is doing the same thing and now when it goes into OD there is a thud into that gear. Not to mention the thud the trans does when at a stop and let foot of brake.

The thud from a stop when you release the brake is the rear driveshaft. This is a TSB as well. Replacement with new part. Dealerships rarely (dare I say never) put the grease in the driveshaft zerk fittings, so parts go bad (my opinion of course). My driveshaft did it until I pumped about 6 pumps from my grease gun in there around 11k miles. It took about 200 miles, but the thud went away for me.

For the record, my transmission has also done this rough 1-2 shift for 13k miles as well, but it's ever so slight and only on a light throttled 1-2 shift and only when going up-hill. I've just learned to deal with it. If it gets bad, I'll get it replaced at 35,999 miles, if you know what I mean.

Bought my 2011 SR5 a few months ago w/ about 8k miles on it. at about 13k i am now noticing the transmission shudder and the driveshaft clunk...looks like i need to set-up a dealer visit....blah! the dealer i bought my 4runner from is an hour away, i hope the local dealer that i will address the issue with doesn't hold that against me.

Seriously? Hold it against you? What are you talking about? They WORK for you, your the customer. You got a problem, they are supposed to be there to fix it......do not walk in there saying I am sorry. Tell them it needs to be fixed, and please do it now!
