Not to me - it's not always about reliability, sometimes it's about combinations of performance, looks, nostalgia, etc. Have you looked at the reliability records for Porsche Cayenne! If the reliability of the jeep/porsche were closer to my Toyotas there is a good chance I would be replacing at least a few of my Toyotas with these models. If I drove less or could afford to have a new play vehicle there's a good chance a new Rubicon would be sitting in my driveway. Maybe when I get the kids out of college....

I was looking for a used 2010-2012 for my nice, prices are outrageous. Better to just buy new.

Looks like I was mistaken about that - I was going off memory from looking at some reliability issues around the Cayenne some years back. Looking at it now, looks like they got it worked out within a year or two...

I didn't think the Wrangler had that many reliability issues?

It shouldn't be too suprising, the Wrangler is very similar to the Porsche 911. Iconic shape with very mild changes over a long period of time, and good demand.

Two kinds of Toyotas worth buying:

1. Brand-new ones
2. Ten-year-old ones

Everything in-between is totally overpriced. Even with minimal used car mark-up used two-year-old Toyotas go for near-new prices. No way I am paying that for less warranty and a "seasoned" driver's seat.

I love Wranglers, and would for sure own one. Just surprised they have a high resale. Probably depends on the market, but they seem to be for sale on every corner in CO.

Oh, so you say this beast retains value? That's good. You should expect some equity when your car's starting price is close to that of a small house.this rolling boutique hotel room has to work overtime to make up for a paltry 14 miles per gallon of fuel economy, including only 12 miles per gallon of city driving. There are city buses blessed with better mileage.

Porsche Cayenne

This beast gets 22 miles per gallon on the highway. It gets a whopping 300 horsepower and tops out at 142 miles per hour in its base model. it's a more of a midlife crisis with a motor. The Cayenne is Porsche's best-selling car in the U.S. by far. That's a lot of parents who just can't let their Porsche dreams go.

Land Cruiser/4Runner

Meanwhile, the Land Cruiser is the most expensive Toyota available and the last in a dying breed of big, affluence-flaunting gas guzzlers. You'd think the 4Runner and Land Cruiser and their average combined mileage of 20 and 15 miles per gallon, respectively, would be in less demand after gas prices flirted with $4 a gallon last year. It turns out that used-car buyers are OK paying more at the pump if it means getting these apartments on wheels at half price.

Jeep Wrangler

It's loud, it's not terribly reliable, it sucks up gas at a combined 19 miles per gallon and it doesn't store a whole lot unless you get the stretched-out Unlimited version. They buy it because they want a "Jeep," and all the frivolities that go along with it.

Then after all that, the person doesn't have a sideways word about the FJ Cruiser :behindsofa:

Freaking Land Rover dead last by a large margin. Jeep scary low also.
