this is quite common. It is parts within the starter and I am going to even attempt this fix myself any day now.

you need to find out the model of the starter you have and then buy a rebuild kit for it. Dealership or perhaps even an auto parts store item.

Once you remove the starter you swap out some parts and reinstall the starter and you should be good for another long while.

I hate the search function myself-so just scan backwards a few pages-this is very common problem.

Some have suggested it could lead to fire! take this seriously and go about getting the parts. Carry a fire extinguisher so you will never need it.

I'm brand new as well but it's nice to know there's some pro tech advise here and hello to all the rest of you as well I look forward to getting and giving tips. I'm also glad to see that there are people out there that love there 4 RUNNER as much as I do. well my first question for you has already been answered. I've been searching for a cover since I bought my runner.

I hope they did not install a whole new starter but either way glad to hear your problem is now gone. Keep the rubber side down and have a safe weekend.

Hi...just new here. I have a 2000 4runner ltd. Can you tell me if the servo motor at the base of the heater box is suppose to move only a little at a time. mine goes from one end to the other when i go from cold on the temp selector to 18 deg c. I would assume it is suppose to gradually move based on the temp it sees. Is this a servo problem or the controller and how do I determine which it is. Thank you in advance

What the exact part i need for the infamous "CLUNK" or "THUMP" sound coming from under the truck when you stop or take your foot off the brake
is it the "drive shaft" or "U joint"?
Front or rear?
Whats the part number and name?
Do i just get another one from the dealer of the same year and model of my truck or i think i read somewhere that we should change it to the lexus 470 otherwise it will develop the same problem again?
