issue customizing settings

I purchased one of the cables with the software and have everything setup on my laptop. It connects to my 4Runner but for some reason it won't allow me to customize any of the settings. It lists them when I click customize but when I click on an item and click the button to customize a small window pops up displays a progress bar and then closes never to be seen again.

Anyone have any idea why its doing that?

Check the driver for the cable.
 
finally got it working sort of, ver 7.10 with a product key for 7.11, I think, windows 7 using the XP mode. I still got the unable to connect to network error a few times, but then just as I was ready to give up, a box came up connecting to vehicle. I was so dumbfounded because I had forgotten what I wanted to change, luckily I had just enough wifi connection to download the list from TR4.org. Made all the changes and they seemed to work. Thank you everyone for all your help. :reddance:
 
After searching for hours I finally found a site that had the 2.0.1 driver, installed it and it fixed the issue of not being able to change the settings.

Thanks for the suggestions, I love being able to put all of the windows down by holding the unlock button!
 
FYI: I initially installed 7.10 and I noticed that there were customization features missing. Specifically I wasn't able to configure the rear wiper interval delay. I think there were a few other things missing as well. I then installed 7.20 and was able to set the rear wiper interval time. So it would seem that there may be some things you can't configure if your running an older version of Techstream.
 
Big thanks to whom ever found this, it works great, I got one off ebay for $28 shipped and just finished snooping around my runners customization area, changed the window down option and seat belt buzzer so far.

Since the cable hooks up via USB, you need to enable it in the Windows virtual XP side. Its in the top bar on the virtual pc desktop... If you go this route you will see what I am talking about.. I'll see if I can post up a screen shot later..

That took me a good 30 minutes to figure out. I thought my drivers wasn't installed properly or my cable was defective... Just turns out that you need to use it in XP side and enable the USB cable.

Thanks for that tip...I had forgotten about that while running "XP Mode".
Was able to connect, once I did that.
 
Anyone in South FL (palm beach, broward county) have this available?
Would happily trade a six of your favorite ale for programming seat belt chime.
 
I have XP, SP3 plus the latest updates on a desktop computer that I'm using at this moment to type this comment. The computer is located about 60 feet from the vehicle on our garage. I'd like to be able to use this computer, where it now sits on a desk in our kitchen, to "communicate" with the OBDII port on the car.

I have stumbled across the following device which looks at first glance like it might be the perfect solution:
USB 2 0 Extension Extender Repeater Over Cat 5e Cable | eBay

Is anyone on this forum connecting to their vehicle via anything similar to the above wired USB "extender" or, alternatively, any kind of wireless USB extender? If so, are you getting good results?

The cable that comes with the kit is only 3 foot, as for the extender, I have used one for a printer at work but for only 40 foot, so it may work.

Then there's this device that, if it actually works, would be a great all-in-one solution -- just the length needed -- for me:

I was under the impression that 15 feet was maximum length for USB cable, but maybe I'm wrong.
 
Got my cable and software in this week. It was a nightmare to get it up and running as the drivers they sent were worthless. After some googleing I was able to get the missing piece I needed to get it working. If anyone needs the drivers let me know. Also if anyone nearby or passing through Southern CT needs to use it free of charge let me know.

Installed on my Mac using parallels and windows 7. No problem and worked right out of the gate. BYE BYE seat belt alarm...
