Toytec Boss Finally Installed

Been waiting to do this now since the part came in over a month ago... Set up for 1.25 in the front. Still running stock gear in the rear, but I really like the results. Looking to gain some increased spring rate in the rear without lifting too much... maybe another inch max, if it can be done. Replies and suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

I have made some inquiries into Sway-a-way springs. They seem to have some rear spring units with minimal lift. I also looked at an FJ rear spring conversion but found that my research into this was flawed… apologies for any posts I made showing photo comparisons… they were wrong.

Also looking into aftermarket shocks to go with the rear springs. The aftermarket Bilstein 5100 only seems to work with their 2” lift spring application… correct me if I’m wrong with that... I did post a question to Bilstein’s website and that was the response that was given… “No - they will not work.”

I’m looking for some intermediate cargo holding capabilities under intermediate 4 wheeling applications (trail riding, sand wheeling), etc. No heavy rock crawling here on LI. Better shock valve responses from the rear are desired as well + some extended travel… not a lot though.

That looks really nice. How has the front suspension affected the nose dive and pitch? Is it harsher on bumps than OEM?

I'm located in Huntington, North Shore. Anytime you want to group up for local trails or Rausch Park...LMK.

I'll head North to do some wheeling... any suggestions as to sites would be greatly appreciated.

Nose Dive was greatly reduced just by installing the Coopers... again they are LT "C" load, not P rated, so the side wall ply thickness bodes well with overall road performance characteristics - braking, cornering, etc. Much improved. Some weight reduction over the E load. Also the ride (comfort - NVH) is very nice... not harsh. almost no difference in potholes, manhole covers - that sort of thing.

Some lightness now in steering response and feedback as I understand that when lifts are performed on these vehicles - caster is reduced - resulting in the application of UCA, where most from Light Racing and Icon are built with about 2 degrees of caster as their zero set point with an extra 4 degrees adjustment capable (Icon Website). Since I only went up about 1.5" - there should be plenty of adjustment left (hopefully?). Getting it aligned tomorrow + 1st oil change + headlamp adjustment.

***** I have also seen some folks here stacking or overlifting the left side of the vehicle by about 0.25" - 0.50" to compensate for fuel load since the gas tank is on the driver side...? Is this the reason why? Advise please...

Curious to hear what your research was on the FJ rear spring conversion and how it was wrong.
 
I really like the rear SAW coils, they mate very well with the Boss coilovers ride wise. I see they are making a Boss rear shock so for the price that should be nice. I have third row and only got 1.5" in the rear others have seen a little more.
