Trade 2013 for 2010?

Mine: 2013 Limited with 75,000 rough miles

My Brothers: 2010 Limited; 60,000 smooth miles


I like the idea of having a clean slate and starting over with my mods. My brothers 4Runner is in excellent condition; regular maintenance; stock; never taken offroad. The only thing that would concern me is I know he didn't engage the 4x4 center locker at the prescribed intervals. Not sure how detrimental that is.

The deal: trade your 3 model year newer 4runner for your brothers stock mall crawler. I am certain I have put exponentially more stress on my vehicle than he has. Sell modded 4runner, buy stock 2010 with intention to mod. I would keep some parts. Otherwise the cost difference would be a wash.

i would not make that trade, and i definitely wouldn't make that trade with close family

Maybe if you've done some serious towing with yours but, otherwise, I don't really see a benefit.

Even if you've wheeled yours, towed with yours, modded yours, etc... You know where it's been and what it's done. You won't have that same peace of mind with another vehicle. Plus, it's 3 years older :crazy:

Not with family. If both of you regret it, no big deal. But if only one of you regret it, could cause some serious strife.

I would not make the trade as others gave reasons above.

It sounds like you don't like the way you modded your truck or you just want to go a different route. I would just keep the mods that you like and replace the mods you want to change.

I agree no trade. A few years newer only a few thousand more miles plus you could run into family issues
