Traded our 14 SR5 Premium for a 15 Limited yesterday

Yes as you know I screwed up and without doing my homework unknowingly bought one without AWD and didnt like the way it turned in the snow in 4wd. When I went for my 20k service yesterday my great dealer wanted 12k+tax to trade for a new 15 Limited. Their best price after haggling. I drove a couple miles to Auto Nation and they traded me for $8,800+tax. Pearl White, cross bars, carpet mats, fixed running boards, sand leather. 44,900 MSRP This is the exact car my wife wanted I woulnt let her get the first time because I'm so much smarter than her. Back to 13 miles and starting over.

Great decision. You'll be happier in the winter here given the sun, blizzard, sun routine we face (often during one commute!) of course now tire decisions.

It worked out to costing us about 3k to drive 20,000 miles in 10 months and I didnt even get a smoking deal when I bought the SR5. I challenge any other brand to come close to this. Of course the taxes, expensive Colorado tags and insurance pile it on top of that.

My wife prefers AWD as well.
She has a FX35 AWD. She has yet to drive my 4Runner SR5.

AWD is great in rain and snow.
I prefer 4WD myself, but happy wife=happy life.

Sorry. The Limited model is full time FOUR wheel drive not ALL wheel drive. Big difference.

My wife drives her '15 CR-V touring. She only drives the 4Runner if I have too many 22 oz two exes.

this is an endless internet debate...

the limited has a torsen center diff
So does the audi you drove
The traction feels quite similar. My old GX had the torsen diff as well. Yes, the 4runner has the ability to lock the diff and your audi didn't, but beyond that they're the same in normal use.

Generally speaking, the difference between AWD and 4WD is the presence of a center diff. AWD systems typically have them, bonafide 4WD systems usually don't.

I have been trying to do this trade for awhile online with internet salespeople. Several e-mails to different dealers. Some back and forth. Lots of miscommunication and non returned calls. It really took me going into the dealers and trying to pound out a deal in person. I feel like the stars were just lined up this one day at the right place and time for this to work out for me. We are very happy with the results. I learned two things, the internet wont always get er done and never to give up. The first dealer salesman showed me his limiteds and said 4k off. Then inside the sales manager said he was wrong and that was a pipe dream. When it finally started to fall together at Auto Nation I was thinking I was dreaming. I couldn't believe it. Persistence pays off I guess. By the way the same Auto Nation's internet saleslady called me once, took the info and never called me back. Then I called her and she didnt follow up again. When I went in there I just used a salesman that approached me as I stepped out of my car.
