Trading in your 4th Gen?

I may consider trading in my 2004 V8 for a newer Sequoia. (05+) I may need 3 rows of seating soon. Either that or a 07+ Suburban.

Does the sequoia have real 4wd with locking diff?

Not a 5th...if I did trade, it would be for a 2nd Gen, Double Cab, 4WD Taco. That said, I have no plans to trade at this time.

Not really, the T4R has been good to me so far and I see a lot of good years ahead.

I might consider trading for a 5th gen when Toyota does the mid model facelift. 2013? Having an '07 with under 20,000 miles I see no need to trade yet.

maybe some cosmetic changes on the 5th gen in the future like headlight projectors, rear leds, bigger fenders, (sounds familiar?).. :biggrin2:

I have about 18 months left on my lease....maybe? Depends on the deals but my buyout is only $17k so they are going to have to give away one to get me to spend another 35-40k. I am figuring this truck will go at least 150k miles so I was planning on running it to there and trading it in. That will give me full pay off and 4 years of no payments.

What is a 5th gen going to give me that my 08 won't??? My only issue is my diff whines on decel a bit that is it. No other problems.

If you mean the recall stuff by "current questions", then no, it's not necessarily free of any issues. It's still made in Japan and always has been, so it doesn't have the gas pedal mechanism that's being repaired on most North American-made models. If the problem ultimately ends up being electronics, then it could affect all Toyota models. They're putting a brake override into all 2011 models at the factory.

To answer the OP's question, I'm sticking with my 2006 for a while yet. To me, there's nothing compelling about the 5th gen right now to make me trade in my 4th gen. Of course, if you ask this in the 5th Gen forum, you'll get totally different results! There are members who did make the switch.

All Lexus brand vehicles are made in Japan also, but some people have died due to the sticking pedal issue.

I wouldn't want to lose my V8 or the Torsen.

:iagree: With the loss of the V8, Torsen and the 2,000 lbs of towing capacity the 5th generation 4Runner cannot fill my needs.

So far Toyota has sent me two letters and one booklet about the 5th Gen 4Runner.

With each mailing about the 5th gen I :lol: then put the mailing in my recycling container.

No probably not. If im trading her in, its going to be on a Land Cruiser or RRS Supercharged. I test drove the 5th gen and while it was "ok" and seems to be growing on me, I actually think I LOVE my V8 allot better.
