Trail Edition is now officially the TRD Off Road

Straight from FJ summit the trail is now called the TRD Off Road and includes a different pillar badge and embroidered head rests.

That's about it. Even the Toyota guys didn't seem thrilled by marketings' decision.

"Trail" is a cooler name in my opinion.

Also for somebody not familiar, there is likely to be confusion between a TRD Off Road and a TRD Pro.

I get that this offers consistency with the Tacoma line....doesn't make it any less lame.

I get why they are doing it (marketing) but it just looks tacky and "trail" sounds better. (IMO) Glad I got mine before they changed it don't have to worry about removing all those badges

Seems it would've made more sense to make a TRD Pro Premium of sorts, with a less clunky name. Keep the fancy suspension, but allow things like leather, 3rd row, sunroof and premium audio.

Marketing can't even get a pic with the letters lined up correctly? TRD (perfectly horizontal) and Off Road angled downward towards rear. I am a nut about clean even lines, that hurts my eyes.

Instead of removing the lower piece and having it painted differently you went with the SR5? That seems...I dunno, drastic?

I would remove the TRD OffRoad badging and put on the Trail badge or just leave it off.

Probably good for marketing. People will go gaga over it because it's easier to get than a TRD Pro while still having that aggressive TRD badge somewhere. With the way that 4Runner sales are going(didn't even imagine a BOF would sell this well in 2016), this is probably another good idea on their part.

To me this is not any more or less confusing than before. What I will watch is how many I can find on the lot when I go see them. I can find SR5 and Limited models all day long. Trail Edition Premium models are harder to get here in Austin.
