Trail model availability

I’m having really hard time finding a Trail model 4Runner in Chicago area. I called around and no dealer has one in stock or coming any time soon. According to one dealer if I order one it would take up to six months to get it.
Is Trail model limited production run or is there another reason for their shortage?

The trail edition isnt a "standard" build for the Midwest region, so you won't find anydealers eith them on their lots.

the downside is that you can't really test dive one and you have to wait if you order one. The plus side is that you can order it however you want, and the wait should be closer to 10 weeks.

I oredered one march 1 and the dealer said the three than they previously ordred took about 10 weeks.

Also, don't let the dealer tell you they "cannot" order one for you. If that happens, find another dealer.
 
the Trails are not being produced in quantity like the SR5 and Limited. however, as i understand it, more Trails are starting to become available as Toyota ramps up production across the line.
 
Along the same line, has anyone ever seen one WITHOUT NAV and KDSS, because I don't really need either and everyone I have talked to said they are all coming with KDSS and NAV. If i dont need either, i dont really wanna spend 5 grand on stuff I don't need....

I ordered one last Wed from Sunshine Toyota in Battle Creek MI. It came from a dealer in Maumee OH. It was delivered to the dealership on Fri and I picked it up on Sat. Total of less then 3 days to get the TE. When I got home I checked the internet and they had two more. I just checked and both of them are no longer listed on the site. My dealership had no problem locating my TE and getting it traded to thier dealership.

My TE came w/o nav or KDSS.

Yep, that’s what I’m hearing too. I personally wouldn’t mind NAV but $2200 is too much if you ask me.

Try Wilde Toyota in Milwaukee. I bought my TE there about a month ago and I do not have NAV or KDSS. I know the sales mgr if you are interested.

I would agree if it was just the navigation, but it's also the stereo interface, the phone interface, the calendar, and the back-up camera. It's drawbacks are only slightly annoying to me but then again I had nothing to compare it to in previous vehicles. To me, it's one of the coolest features of the interior, and far more useful than a sliding deck.

No problem. I will warn you this dealer was one of just a handful that had TE's in stock in the midwest, trust me I shopped around first:p Luckily it had been the dealer my family and I had been buying from for over 20 years(Same guy too).

i agree that, despite its quirks/interface borks, the Nav is decent; worth it to me. KDSS is so worth it, imho.
but whatever you end up with, you'll enjoy it. good luck.

If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for your TE?

It all comes down to money. If I can get a good price I'll probably get both options.

Sure. I think it was just over $34K(before TTL) which did not include the heated seats I added, so about $1000 over invoice give/take. This was mid January before all the toyota recalls & such, so now I would shoot for around $500 over invoice with 2.9% for 60 months. The TE are more limited in this area, so the other folks who got better deals may have more of them in their region.

Wilde had given me a 2010 TE loaner with KDSS & NAV for a week while my 2006 4runner sport was having some work done. KDSS does improve the on road handling a bit and the NAV was nice but in the end, I could not swing the added costs, maybe next time:)
