Trailhead98's Build Thread

Dang, I love the way your blacked out bumpers and grill (pre-mod) look. When you Plasti-dipped the bumpers, did you remove them, or just spray them while they were on? Curious to see how long the dip lasts on chrome bumpers.

I'm thinking about de-chroming my Desert Dune 4Runner and wanted to take this approach rather than purchasing and installing new bumpers. I'll be doing the Satoshi mod later on, but for now, I think I'm just going to Plasti-Dip the thing until I find the scratch (and the time) to do everything.

The plasti dip has held up great the front does get some abuse but not bad, ive redone both bumpers once in a year. I sprayed them while they are still on the truck, just covered everything.

Havent updated in awhile....

Lifted the truck more today only did the rears for now. LC coils and shocks in the back to replace my 99 tall coils with a 1.5" Daystar.

More to come tomorrow....got some Bilstein adjustable 5100's and Toytec/Ebiach coils going in the front to level this beast out! Super happy with the outcome and the ease of install.

Oh man, you're gonna love it with the Toytecs/5100. The white lettering on your tires looks awesome too.

Nice job dude! Can't wait to see it with the front lift installed! Any plans for bigger tires?? If so, what kind are you planning on getting?

got the fronts done today! Was too bad, couple of friends and pb blast got the job done. Here's some cell phone pics of the install.

I would love some 33s! But they tires i have now are quite new and I don't need another thing hindering what mpg's I get now haha.

Looks good man! I've always been a fan of the look of your 4R. I like the CO's you chose...just put a set of those on my Runner over the weekend & the ride is MUCH improved!

I also like how you painted/plasti-dipped below the doors & the pinch-weld. Nice!

thank you sir! Gotta love our white 4R's. Love the front CO set up also. As for the rocker panels they are bed lined and I love em!

Man, Ive always liked the way your truck looks. Every part adds to it. The flat black flares and bumpers, gloss black rims, and even the tires with white lettering showing. If just works well on your truck. Nice addition with the lift.

Looks great man! So whats the new front lift measurement?

Thanks man! And I forgot to measure before we lifted it...guess i got ahead of myself. But after i ended up with 38"ish fender to ground after the lift I believe. Its significantly higher I know that haha. So I've got the slight rake I like but not too much.

I really appreciate it man! Really good to know other peoples thoughts when I'm always just spewing off thoughts in my head about it haha. I've been following your truck lately since the lift, looks great!

When I saw the first pics with just the rear done, I was thinking "Holy RAKE!!! Batman!"

But then you got the front done, and it all flows perfectly.

I noticed you left the extended studs installed in your shock's top plate (looks like you had a spacer lift up front @ some point). Why didn't you swap them out for the stock studs while you had it all apart?

Like the others said, your 4Runner looks awesome, and the new suspension setup makes it just that much sweeter.
