Transfer case linkage socket pivot point popped out on 95 4Runner

Hello,

I was under my 95 4Runner to change out the rear sway bar bushings today when I noticed that the 4wd transfer case linkage ball socket had popped out of the pivot point above. On the ball portion of it is a half moon metal piece that cusps half of the linkage ball. Is this normal, or did the other half break off? It moves around the greased socket freely.

Can this simply be popped back into place, or is it broken? I'm not sure how this would have happened or for how long its been this way.

I do not know this generation or the part you question.
But, I see why you noticed it. It looks broken to me. A exploded component schematic might reveal if it is repairable?

FWIW I've looked at 2 FSMs for your truck and they don't show that in any of the exploded diagrams.

When this happened to my 4runner, before i dual cased it. I cut the ball socket out and drilled a hole through the linkage and mount and used a long bolt washers and nut. Problem never happened again.
