Traxxas Summit | my new distraction.

awpsome

Yup, got myself back into RC and with the new Traxxas Summit, it falls straight into my hobby and love for the 4runner.
Its pretty much a smaller scale of what i wanted in my t4r without having to spend the big bucks and worry about fu*king sh*t up.

Long story short..
The Traxxas Summit is a 1:8 scale RC.
Completely waterproof.
Remote Differential Lockers! from the transmitter i can lock front axle or both front and rear axles. of just run both in open diff!
Two speed transmission *pretty much a 4wd high and a 4wd low.. ULTRA low.. suspension flex like crazy especially from an IFS style.
This thing is a monster...

Bonus? When i go roading with the 4runner and we decide to take a break, out comes with the Summit and i can continue my trailing on a RC level.
Bonus 2? Lipo Batteries are rechargeable from a 12 volt style charger, which means i get to charge while out on the trail or anywhere i am as long as i have my truck or any vehicle with me.. You can do both wall outlets and alligator clips to a battery. :)
Bonus 3? For all the crazy climbs and sand and all whatever crap i cant do with the t4r since i dont have money pouring out of my pockets. the Summit WILL DO what i wish i could do!

One down fall? This is a HOBBY GRADE RC. not your average walmart bestbuy whatever stuff.. Its not cheap but in the end its way more then worth it.

Of course PHOTOS!

Suspension on this specific RC is a flat internal adjustable COILOVER shock design. connected to Long Travel Arms that can pretty much flex the tires up higher then the top of the tire behind it.

The guts.
This is a brushed motor design that creates LOADS AND LOADS of torque..
there are videos on youtube of the summit pushing cars in Neutral..
there are videos on youtube of the summit pulling children across CARPET.
there are videos on youtube of the summit pulling fathers and childrens in radio flyers across the street.

below the motor you will see all the mini servos that move the pins for my 2 speed transmission with a high gear of 25:1 and a low gear of 75:1 (something along those lines..)
other servos for my remote T-lock differentials pretty much a E LOCKER STYLE that is activated and deactivated from my transmitter on the fly.

Enjoy!
And ill be posting more videos and photos as they come along hopefully with the T4R together!

Dude, that thing is action!!! Now if only the runner could flex like that lol. You took Alot of great pics and your 4runner is hella clean. I almost forgot it was a 2wd lol.

I was so excited when I got my Thundertiger a few months back. Unfortunately, the thrill was incredibly short-lived ... it just wasn't as fun as it was when I was a little kid. Glad to see you're still enjoying it!!

I'm not alone!

Good to see somebody else into RC! I got myself an Axial SCX10 10th scale trail truck. Its not quite as crazy as your Summit but I love it. I've used it in dirt, mud, snow, gravel, sand and even took it with me to Sedona last spring. They definitely aren't cheap but totally worth it durability wise. I rolled mine off a 10 foot cliff and didn't have any problems, the same could not be said if I had rolled my T4R!

Its also alot cheaper and easier to build little scale accessories for you truck. Such as chains or a little drop bracket lift kit.

Sickkk!! Yea I almost bought a honcho scx10 myself.. But coming from bigger rc's before like a brushless emaxx. I just couldn't justify getting a "smaller" rc. Although I really dig the scale type of the scx10 and it's badass looks. I just wanted more trail capable and mainly a larger vehicle. But hands down the axial stuff is dope! Was stuck between that and the summit!
Cool stuff man! Good to see a fellow t4r member into RC haha!

ENJOY!

thats pretty cool stuff, when i move into my new house there is a 3ac pond right in my backyard, i was wanting to get a RC boat to put in it, any suggestions?

To be honest I have no idea when it comes to rc boats.
But what I usually see as a popular item with traxxas is the traxxas spartan.

nice! me too, got myself a brushless emaxx. mamba monster. those trucks are fun as well, just sometimes the speed gets out of hand and i tend to break things..
my fault of course.. driving into things at around 50+mph then to break something.. HAHAH

I just can imagine shelling out that much dough..... Ha ha everyone whos reading this post is probably thinking: NERD!:nerd:

I've been looking for t4r bodies forever, but what i found out is that toyota doesnt sell the license for anyone to use their trucks as bodies.. only thing are 1st gen 4runner, which is fine as well but no one makes anything on this large of a scale..

I have a brushless mamba monster emaxx as well, those cost just as much as a summit, if i remember correctly they are actually more expensive then the summit..
Both are very enjoyable trucks to tweak with!

RC hobby

Glad to know fellow T4R members enjoy RC hobby too. I guess I'm not alone either. I have RC plane too but enjoys RC cars better.
