TRD Limited Fat Bike Hauler v1.1

Please post some pics as I would like to see what you came up with. I am working on an idea to add a 3rd bike reversed between the two bikes.

Started with a Kuat NV and a Baja Rack that I got for only $400 thanks to a tip from another forum member. Cut the basket top off the rack, lowered the fairing, and welded a piece of flat bar across the top with 4 holes punched in it. Powder coated the rack, and mounted 2 Kuat fork mounts along the flat bar where I punched the holes. This way I can carry 4 bikes easily, or 2 bikes & 2 kayaks.

I didn't like the idea of the hitch rack extender (for many reasons). I do wish that I thought of a better rear wheel option like yours before I had it powder coated. My solution for now is individual straps run through the bars on the rack. I feel like I could fit a third (backwards) very easily. BTW, I got the same light bar mounts from Brad as well. They are great.

I am trying not to extend mine all the way to the front but after seeing yours I am seriously considering the thought that I had in my head. I love the look of the completely flat rack and the functionality has to be awesome.

As for the rear wheel mounts for your. I don't think it would be that hard to duplicate the idea using a flat 4" x 16" plate and then use 1/2" x 3" metal straps to secure it down.

Well dang it now I am going to have to add the Ditch lights in when I do the front end swap next month.

I never liked the limited front end because of all the chrome, but all blacked out actually looks really good

I agree with you and I am not a huge fan of chrome. It just looks so 1980 maybe even 1990. Still not sure why some manufactures think tons of Chrome means it's worth more money. Less is more in my book.

When I bought the truck the plan was to swap the front end right away but working on two other cars and all the other little mods I wanted to do to the truck took precedent. So thousands of dollars later it's finally time to start the front and dear god are light bars expensive and so are ditch lights. So that has slowed me down a bunch. Plus I really want to add the TRD parts to the front end so there is more money that I need to spend. Plus paint and all the other fun stuff. However once it's complete I know I will be really happy and my goal is to have it completed by my birthday (the 24th) this month.

We have about 40 miles of trails located in Palos, IL and the bike loves them. We go from supper rocky technical trails to dirt roadie trails. Something about this bike makes me want to just ride it.

My buddy and I have talked about riding Blue Mounds State Park and even Copper Harbor and now I have to convince him that we need to head your way for the Fat Bike Series.

and Yep we ride Kettle and Brown County

The black bike has the 27.5 plus WTB Scrapper rims with 3.5 Panaracers Fat B Nimbles on it and it rides just like my old cross country bike.

Actually I really like the front end on my truck. I originally wanted the TRD Pro in Inferno Orange however I wanted a sunroof, keyless entry, push button start and the JBL sound system which were not offered in the TRD. So the plan from the get go was to basically just do a TRD swap on my truck. I am still not sure if I am going to do the rear bumper as I really like the rear.

Still not sure if I am going to paint the lower TRD facia on the front cover silver or leave it a matte black.

Yes, I really dig the blacked out look you have going, surprisingly you don't actually see it too often.

I finally swapped the roof rails this weekend with an extra set that I purchased off a member here on the board. I will be dropping my silver set off at the powder coater this afternoon and having them powder'd black.

So when the next local guy is ready for the swap I have a set sitting in my garage. Right now I have two guys on the list.

next up is wrapping the window chrome.

Wow your good.

It was the bike my wife was riding when I met her. From memory is a 1996 GT Zaskar full XTR and this is why I married her. Unfortunately the week before out wedding she had a really bad crash and she hasn't been on it since. I am hoping one day that she starts riding again. I may even let her ride one of my fat bikes.

Thanks again Marty for the roof rail swap last night, it was fun talking with you and drooling over your garage and Camaros, and the truck looks great! The family had a great time, your daughters tired my son out and he slept the whole drive home and knocked right out once he hit the crib!
