TRD Pro LIFT? - Flamers Troll A Different Thread...

I too started a similar thread when I first got my TRDP.....I had a very similar question. Was looking to slightly increase ground clearance and load carrying capability WITHOUT changing out the major TRD suspension components. I called up the folks at Toytec, had a lengthy conversation, and we came up with this:
  • Replace rear springs (which are basic stock 4runner springs) with a RCC2.0 or RCC2.0HD spring.
  • Add a top spacer on the fronts with a longer stud setup or
  • Replace the 650lb Eibach spring up front with a heavier spring.

I have added a good bit of weight to my Pro with the addition of a RTT, Gobi Rack, Sliders (to come soon) and expedition cargo. I will be at the very least adding some rear springs soon.
Hope this helps.

This helps especially the rear springs. I know I will need to change the front springs for a higher rated one when I add the second battery and winch. I myself am going to avoid the spacer lifts like the plague. Would rather change out the front suspension if it comes to that or modify the existing with an adjustable coil over.

Though this is loads of fun making something work well within certain perimeters. For me Not changing out the major components keeping tire size due to mileage and not really needing as much lift as forest roads are my norm with some fire roads mostly. Done are my days of Rock Crawling, and the such, hard to do when you have issues with judging distance, eek.

I look forward to more solution and woukd like to see more information on those who change out the springs, even adding jounce shocks etc..

I would really like to see your setup. You're doing the exact things that I am planning. Only difference is, your are doing!

Looks great! I may have to hit you up for some advice.

couldn't help it huh? even when it was on the title of the thread...

is this what this forum is about? even when everyone here owns the same truck?

you know...they had the all the other 4runner models parked RIGHT there next to it.. i could've just as easy asked for the keys to one of those, money wasn't an issue.

The reason I made that comment was only because of that title.

Sourced from Toyota at the request of an Inventory Manager:

That is a "talking points" sheet and has been here since September. It mentions the word "travel" but is that shock travel? Did they modify the bump stop? I don't know. I do know what happens if you run too short a shock though. You go over a deep pothole or speed bump and end up buying new shocks. You can't assume and posting that same sheet in two different threads like it was special does nothing.

Wow. Did I say it was new fresh off the press info...no. It is dated August 28th of this year which is current enough for posting sake given the TRDP just got released this year. And I posted it in the TRDP thread because it is the TRDP thread, so it gives people inquiring about the vehicle (a lot) additional information which many are seeking. Is this all you have to harp on, people posting pertinent info in a thread specifically discussing that vehicle, really.

You already demonstrated your lack of engine building knowledge, now this. Like the saying goes, a smart person realizes how much they don't know. Cheers

Sorry. Please put me on your ignore list for 2015.

I really respect what you try to do here...but sadly it's not appreciated. Like someone that buys a TRDP and wants to add 3/4" height....I honestly don't get it...and I tried. Yep...3/4" of inch will make that truck look perfect...

Save your efforts for folks that need real information...not some spoiled babies that cry before the insults fly, or are looking for whipping post...f'em..let them figure out and do their own research.

actually, this is the TRD Pro thread, and it has "(a lot) of additional information which many are seeking." it might be super hard to find, being that it's several items down on the front page below this thread.

like i've said before, i'm excited that with the TRD Pro Toyota seems to be giving the 4Runner some love it hasn't really gotten in quite some time. (but, yeah, wherefore art thou, supercharger? *cough. cough* where's the beef?) i don't pretend to think the TRDP is all that as it stands, but it certainly seems to have motivated a particular set of buyers the lineup may not have otherwise. still, this is beginning to sound and smell like the whinging Boxster buyers who befell Porsche after its intro.

^^^Love this guy.:usa2:

It's funny, certain people ripping on a legit question or a TRD Pro (a 4Runner people!), but would rip most of us for buying a Jeep. Unless, your loved around these parts, then you get congratulations on your new Chrysler.
Pretty damn funny and pathetic.

Try to enjoy your rides, even if heaven forbid (insert whisper voice) it's a TRD Pro.

Gotta approach it as water off a ducks back, it is a public forum! My daughter just started singing this, it's funny, and cute as hell from a 4yr old. I blame my wife...

"'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off
Heart-breakers gonna break, break, break, break, break
And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off"

Love it!

I don't understand what wizzard and 1engineer were even debating in the first place. 1engineer said something about spacers and wizzard brought up the trdpro shocks vs the 6112's.

Almost fitting that Taylor Swift would come up in this thread.

Look...I know stuff some of you don't so I post it. I then get in trouble because you don't like the way I present it. Sorry but that is the I am.

Thanks. I had no idea about that song.

I'm the one that had to download it for my wife and daughter, try explaining that one to your buddies when it comes up on random play in the car through Bluetooth.

To stay on topic...

Personally I love the TRD Pro, I think the criticism comes to those that buy it than want to modify some of the key selling points. It would have never served my needs but it's better than that Heep that a certain resident smart@$$, just bought.
