you should be fine. BFG's don't actually measure tru to size like the Nittos do. The 285 ridge grappler will require pushing fender liner forward, possible bumper trimming and possible mudflap removal.

This is not an absolute. Factory build tolerances vary even across same trim levels. None, some, or all the above may/may not need to be done.
That is true just pulled into the driveway and when the wheel is turned and go up the bump there is a slight rub on mud flaps. Will have to either heat the flaps and bend them in or take them off.

need help
So got to installing the kit today only to find out our spring compressor won't work for the front shocks. What recommendations do people have for a spring compressor for the front shocks? or just send me to a forum that has the answer... I just can't search anymore...

I had that issue when I did mine, my spring compressors that I had used on Tundras and other trucks wouldn't work on the 4runner, I found a YouTube video showing how to do it with using the truck and a car-jack. I believe it was this forum, I'll see if I can find it again.
found the thread I ended up using this method and did it in my driveway after fighting with my spring compressors

Well I ordered the Toytec 2" kit last week (hasn't arrived yet) with the full intention of running 285's. After flopping back and fourth 100 times today I ordered 255/75/17 STT Pro's (32" x 10.2"). These fill fit and flex without rub, weigh less than 285's, came in C load, keep my suspension stock, eliminate install/alignment cost, save mpg...all things that helped me make my decision.
I've looked at pics of 255's with the lift and it does look great but my dilemma now is do I still run the lift? Other than appearance I don't think there's really any advantage of running it with the 255's???
I'm thinking I could put the money from the lift into sliders instead.
Thoughts?

You didn't like your stock Pro tires? The 255's is only about .5 bigger.

Not really. The Terra Grappler AT in a P didn't really fit my needs. Went out in like 4" of snow a few times and almost got stuck going up a fairly easy hill.
They're great in town but for playing off road and with my hunting and fishing habits I really wanted an LT tire that was a bit more aggressive for year around.
But ya size wise there's barely a difference. Was on the fence with 255/80/17 ST Maxx but I've ran the Pro's before and really liked them.

I prefer the wider/fatter stance look but these don't rub, have good height, and mud isnt flying everywhere all over the truck.
