We need more truck pictures from the guys that switched out their front spring to a 14” spring! Not going to lie, I think this option is a fantastic way to go. I was originally thinking of the Toytec spacer lift but if the 14” 600# FJ springs are yielding 2 more inches in the front that would be an even better option. Are you guys running UCAs with just the 14” spring? My guess is if this setup is yielding 2.5-3.0 of lift over a non-Pro 4Runner then UCAs are probably the right way to go.

Additionally, for those that have swapped out for a 14” 600#: have you noticed a change in the ride quality?

That is the direction I ended up going tbh. And why I don't have the spacers on anymore. I have the King 14" 650# springs. I removed the front sway bar, and cant tell a difference on the most twisted of roads. I want to sell my spacers, but my advice is to go with the Kings springs and don't look back.

What was the purpose of removing the sway bar? To fit the larger springs? I'm about to order new springs and just want to cover all the bases. Will I need to modify anything else on my pro to fit these speings?

I just installed King coilovers, so my Cornfed 2"F/1.5"R spacers off my Pro will be for sale. I just need to pull off the front top hats to get the front spacers out. I had them on for just under 1.5 years and 11k miles. Picture below is with 285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. No issues with them, I just couldn't pass up a great deal on new Kings.

PM if interested!

I've got the 14"/600# FJ springs in my garage along with the Toytec kit and UCAs. I'll post pictures once it's all installed, though it should look the same as the cement a few pages back.

I don't disagree with you on that. I believe to this point I am the only one that was brave enough to pull the trigger on it. I will say I have had some additional settling and the front is even higher now after 4k miles. I have a bit of reverse rake that I am going to address by swapping the 1.5" SAWs in the rear with 2" springs.

I did UCAs as well as it just gives so much more options to the tech to align the front end. I was getting horrid numbers just with the toytec kit and then adding the FJP spring it was not going to align well at all.

Ride quality, it is stiff. Going from 520lbs to 600lbs you definitely feel the bumps a bit more.

Just better off road manners. With the stiffer front coils, I haven't found any difference in on road handling. I was going to put it back on if I noticed any I'll effects at all, but so far it is still sitting in my factory part reject pile.

I had the feeling that the 2" rears would be needed. Stuck with those when I ordered the Toytec kit. Appreciate your advice as to getting the FJPros from McGeorge. They were far cheaper than anywhere else and had them available right away.

Alright, I have spent the last few hours reading all 72 pages of this thread, and I am still left conflicted on what to get.

I want to lift my 4runner approximately 2" but I don't want to ditch the TRD suspension. I also don't want a severe rake.

At first it seemed as if the Toytec lift was the way to go, but I worry about the severe rake if I decide to add a slimline bumper + winch later.

Can someone offer some advice as to what is the best possible option for me to obtain a fairly level lift, as well as avoid bad rake if I decide to add a bumper and winch? Whether that's springs, toytec lift, spacers, etc. Thanks in advance!

I have the toytec 2inch lift for the trd pro lift and it gave me a little reverse rake, perfect for a slimline when it comes. I've seen others do the toytec then swap for a heavier coil to accommodate the extra weight. Not sure the exact spring but it's out there.

If you add a bumper and a winch, it is going to be almost impossible not to "ditch the TRD suspension." You will most likely want heavier springs to support the additional weight.

That said: I am still very happy with my Toytech lift after I swapped my rear springs for the sway away coils.

I think you could build your own kit to do it with:

https://www.toyteclifts.com/tac2-2-front-spacer-kit.html

and

https://www.toyteclifts.com/102-1650-195-pair-of-sway-a-way-rear-1-5-lift-coils.html

But to each their own. I don't like rake. At all. So this is the perfect setup for me.

Yeah I’ve read some stuff about swapping the coils for longer ones, for the lift, and ones that can support more weight. Definitely interested in doing this but need to know exactly what coils to get for the front and rear for a 2” lift all around. Read stuff about kings. Can anyone offer advice?

If you have the OEM 4Runner pro suspension, not the FJ Pro suspension, swap your 4R springs for FJ springs. 4R Pro used 13" coils, FJ Pro used 14" coils. Cheap and it retains pretty much OEM ride quality with is pretty damn good in the Pro

Ok, I think that’s the route I’m gonna go. Especially since that will allow me to add a winch bumper later and not deal with too much sag since the coils are 600#. (Atleast from my understanding - correct me if i’m wrong)

What would you do in the rear? To achieve a level look but still lift it. 1.5” coils? 2” coils?

And just to confirm I don’t need the trd pro toytec lift kit, correct? I will still get a lifted truck by only swapping springs?

Also, if I do the spring swap all the way around sill i need new UCA’s? Thank you!

You do not need new front uppers until 2" plus IMO As for the rear, go with a 1.5" spacer and leave everything else alone. I used Cornfed spacers, I have used them many times and have never had an issue with them.

What's been reiterated about 14 inch coils is correct. Heck #650 14 inch King would be my choice if you added a bumper and winch.

Rears:
I would say 1 inch eibach for close to level look or SAW1.5 for more rake. I had both and I'm happy with my SAWs
$100 price difference between the two brands.

I know that Josh S at Apex Overland has done it, he's based in NC. You could potentially reach out via his website or facebook to find out.
