Trd pro lift question

Pro with 1.5/1" spacers (Cornfed/Burtman) w/275's on stock Pro wheels. 275's work just fine on the Pro stock, but I wanted a slightly taller vehicle without getting carried away.

Too much preload on the coils which puts a lot of extra stress on the shock. CV shaft angles and ball joint angles are way out of wack. I fear that spacer being up to with really nothing holding it in place could shift which would cause your coil to do god knows what. Your alignment is way out of spec also being up 4" over stock and still having stock upper control arms. Just everything about it is a recipe for disaster.

Much better, they got it right this time. I have to assume it rides much better also.


Surprisingly with normal driving it behaved pretty well. Big bumps or bumps with wheels turned it felt a bit unsteady, but it wasnt really noticeable until now that its fixed and I know how it should be. Glad I didnt do anything too wild with them incorrect like that.
 
Stance

Took out all the TRD hardware 30,000 miles ago and not had any trouble with the Kings, UCA and 6" diff drop. No stress on coils, CV angles are a 90 degrees better than when stock and can cruise at 75-80 mph all day confidently. Running 285/75/17 Ridge Grapplers with plenty of room. Agree that sticking a hockey puck on top of your springs didnt make sense to me.

What exactly are you working with? 6 inch diff drop..never heard of such a thing. Do you actually mean drop bracket?
Can we get some pics of your front end set up and CV angles?

Holy moses! No way this set up is stable...how bad is your body roll? How does this lift do in cross winds? Doesn’t King recommend 2.5” lift for the Gen 5 chasis?
 
I think he means crossmember drop, K frame drop. See the trailing arms up front? That's generally required when you do a front control arm drop so you don't rip the bracket off the frame rail. This looks to me like a moded FJ kit using King coilovers. Still looks like a 285 under there though so not sure why anyone would spend all that extra money to run the same tires that can easily be cleared with half the lift and twice the stability.

Its a X between FJ and Tacoma BDS suspension with some notching to the Chassis. Its 285/75's, not 285/70's/. Good luck trying to fit 34" tires with Toyotec spacers without compromising the ride. I can fit 35's but I was fine with the 34"'s with absolutely no rub

Its a 6" combinations of BDS and Procomp drop kits with longer knuckles and the chassis is modified to lower the front diff. I will try to get you some pics
 
Drive it? I would need a ladder just to get inside. Sounds bad ass though :banana:

How’s it drive?

I can't get in either without the AMP steps :) It drives much better than T4r's and FJ's I drove with leveling kits. There is no unneeded load on the springs. It does not drive like stock but there is no tugging when going over depressions or as we call them potholes in the North East.

Your front crossmember was cut to accomplish this right?

295/70/17 1.5" lift no BMC, normal fender liner mod, no rubbing.

That is correct and the kit includes a 20LB new crossmember that gets bolted on. You cannot lower the front Diff without cutting or notching the cross member. There is absolutely no change in the rigidity or flex after 30K miles of Highway, beach and trail driving. I have the piece but honestly I never see myself welding it back on and De-modding this t4r. This is the way I wanted to go and that doesnt mean that there is anything wrong with leveling kits. I just dont consider that a "lift" when you are just pushing down your control arms and loading your springs.

Not necessarily because I want a 6 inch lift, but rather that I would like better geometry.
