Trd pro lift question

Gotcha. I'm actually been talking to them now.

They're not willing to make me a 2.5" front spacer. I'm going for a 3/2.25(ish) lift.

Any guesses why?

Yeah because that much preload is a really bad idea and with the pro suspension you already sit 3/4" higher up front than any other model. If you lift the front 3" over what you have now, you will be 3.75 over say an SR5 which is not going to work. What I used is the 1" ToyTec preload spacer and a 3/8" thick top hat spacer from Cornfed. This gave me 1.75" of lift which is 2.5" over a stock SR5 Anything more than that or really even with that you should replace your upper control arms for proper alignment. Anything over 3" and good bye CV angles and if you pushed close to that 4" mark I foresee some serious CV devastation.

To add to this, your measuring incorrectly. Measure center of hub to bottom of fender on perfectly level ground. Stock is 20" up front, 22" in the back.

I've got a 4th gen. Stock heigh for me is 19/21. My calcs are a bit modified as a result.

I think 2.5" overall is gonna be the sweet spot for me. Should be able to get there with a 2" front lift.

No idea where you'll be with the 5th gen Pro kit under the 4th gen. It's going to be trial and error for you. No one is going to make you a 2" preload spacer for the front though that's for sure. IMO, use the ToyTec or Cornfed preload spacer and see where that gets you. Since the kit is not made for the 4th gen, it's hard to guess where you'll end up.

If you want 2" over stock 4th gen, go with the 1" preload spacer and install it just like that. The Pro suspension is going to lift it to begin with, then adding the preload spacer will lift it even more. Give it a month to settle out, measure it, adjust from there.

You would be better off looking at the Cornfed preload spacer which is like the ToyTec spacer but goes on top of the coil rather than below it and does the same thing.

Below the top hat will always require a spring compressor. Above the top hat will require a spring compressor if the top hat studs aren't long enough (you need to change out the studs for longer ones).

If you don't want to use a spring compressor, you can use the "no spring compressor method" to disassemble the coil/strut assembly.

Neither require a spring compressor. I have done it 3 times now using the no spring compressor method. Do this at your own risk. If you aren't mechanically inclined and you hurt yourself, don't come crying to me lol.

No they do not. The ToyTec kit sits below the coil and replaces the OEM spring seat. The top hat spacer sits above the top hat so there is no shock disassembly required at all for up to a 1/2" thick spacer with yields 1" lift.

Thanks for the clarification. Which is better ? I have trd pro suspension and deciding which way to go. Overall I want close to 3” lift so I can run 285/70/17.

Its not installed yet [emoji56] and it’s for a 5th gen.

Kit yields .75" up front in a 5th gen. The Toy Tec lower seat adds 1" and the 3/8" thick top hat spacer I installed yields another .75" I'm at 2.5" total up front and have plenty of room for a 285/70/17 I ran a 295 will less lift and I plan on going back to a 295 very soon.

Yes both. One preload spacer, one top hat spacer. I wanted to be right on 2.5" up front. Just incase you don't know, this is the top hat spacer. It goes above the top hat between the top hat and the spring perch.
