All this for a new person who showed up for the sole purpose of selling something?
That is what it pretty much looks like.
yes, I started a thread for a new member who designed a new product/solution when she was too new to start a thread. many people here reported her for not being a vendor and as a result her thread was shut down (not by me).
Ok let’s go through this part by part, because this deserves some unpacking.
First, you opened a thread not in the classifieds to sell something for someone who was not a member on here initially, or owns a 4Runner, so that she could push her product. Yet, you state that we have to be a vendor to sell things. I don’t see “official vendor” under your name, and that thread is still up. If you want to hold people to the rules, fine, but you should be just as accountable to them as the rest of us.
Second, please go through and re-read your own thread. That individual didn’t design anything. She tried to resell a product to members on here that would not work for it’s intended purpose in the 4Runner with an extreme markup. Any fixes, were from people after they had issues with the product ( Ex. like the adapter plate, which was designed by another member ((Crazmex)) after he had the product and found it would not work). Reselling a product doesn’t mean you designed it.
Posting misleading information, copying other’s work ( Antman , and even using one of his pictures, which he asked for her to remove) while trying to make sales on a product with a changing process and product while saying “it will work” is a shady business practice at best.
let's also not forget how you attacked her and her product stating that people could buy the parts for less than her offered solution. which i'm pretty sure is the case with many products people buy every day, probably even yours.
Was my tone misconstrued, possibly. It’s often the case when text is the sole form of communication, and you lack facial expression and vocal cues. Once again, go reread your thread and my post. I gave her credit for looking for a solution, and what she did on the Tacoma side of things was done well, but my point was that a solution should not come at the expense of the customer, nor of value to the customer. If it is a good deal for everyone, great. If it is done with misleading information, and the sole goal of generating as much money as possible while clearly not spending the time to make sure it works, then that’s a problem.
Her offered solution for the 4Runner was the exact parts that were available. Stop throwing up “straw man” arguments. It’s unbefitting.
If you want to go through and critique my designs on wiring, then go ahead I welcome it, but I don’t see anyone else going through and finding the right components and doing it properly nor as cheaply as I do. I source my connectors and components directly from Japan from companies like JAE, Sumitomo, Yazaki, Tokai Rika, etc. All of which are whom Toyota uses themselves. I do this as a hobby on the side for those who want to do things correctly like myself. I go through and hand build all of my stuff, not farm it out to some sweat shop in China, so I rather doubt they can be at the same quality or found cheaper elsewhere.
but rather than just support her and the time she spent trying to figure something out, you just tried your best to discredit her with a page long post that must have taken you an hour to put together.
So let me get this straight, instead of posting up facts and saying people would have an issue getting this to work, and oh, you are getting price gouged, I should have just been quiet and let members of this community get fleeced? Wow, that’s some messed up logic and ethics, especially from a moderator.
Once again, go back and read your own thread, because my post was liked and thanked for the information, and I also received a few PMs thanking me as well.
Any discrediting was self inflicted and done by the conflicting information and constant change to the product while pushing sales.

and i'm not sure why you're confused about what selling is but let me try and explain. When you have an item for which you are attempting to exchange with someone for money that is defined as a "sale." Every item in the for sale section represents this.
Thank you for the textbook definition, but the question was and has been, at what criteria point do we, as members transition to vendor status.
If someone were to manufacture or introduce a product or solution, say an interior mod, and attempt to sell mass quantities, then they are, or attempting to be, a vendor.
Really, because like in my PM’s to you, there are multiple instances of this on the site where people make something and sell something. Here, let me link this thread:
Ultimate camping mod- rear window up / down and hatch pop with ignition off!
How is this different from what I do, but no vendor status is required? If you can’t answer that question, then either A) you don’t know the rules you are trying to enforce, or B) You just don’t care and apply them at your whim.
This applies even if the thread is created under the guise of being a "How-To." Can you perform the "How-To" without buying your product? Did you ever create a group-buy thread for one of your products? Did that thread generate over 100 orders? Are you seeing the difference here?
Or create your "How-To's" and provide people with the means in which to truly do it themselves without sending you any money.
Yes, folks can perform the “How To” to without buying my product. The part numbers for the required OEM harness were listed in my “How To” threads. The Factory wiring diagrams are readily available on this site, and connector part numbers are easily pulled up in Toyota's TIS page that anyone can get access to. The point of my harness designs are to reduce the work in swapping out a larger wiring harness, and reduce the cost. I also provide quite a bit of help to others with wiring stuff that is completely unrelated to my “How To”’s and answer quite a bit of questions regarding how to do things both related to those, and to unrelated projects.
You would have seen that had you read through them and asked other members questions first instead of deleting them in retaliation.
Once again, every harness I make is done by request only, not by pushing sales. If people stop wanting them, or I don’t have the time, I don’t make them. It’s that plain and simple. If there was a large demand for one harness, then that is what I made. Don’t try and make it seem like anything otherwise.
Again, your arguments to make this seem like your actions in deleting my mirror harness thread were justified are weak. You can’t provide a single clear answer, nor explain why others threads are fine, but mine were not.
You want to sell things without doing it officially. You want to complain about unjust treatment while also treating others unjustly. Suck it up and pay the fee and be a vendor.
Once again, If I were a business generating revenue, I would be perfectly fine paying a monthly vendor fee. That being said, for the last time I AM NOT A BUSINESS! I’m not going to pay a monthly fee to keep my threads from being held hostage, when I only make two to three harnesses a month, if even that. That is insane.
You want to talk about unjust treatment. Good, let’s talk.
I think I have a pretty good reputation on this site, and I think a lot of members who have interacted with me would say similar. In fact I’m sure if you scroll back a few pages, you will see just that. You want to say that me posting up facts in good faith for the community was unjust treatment, fine that’s your prerogative, but what does that say about you. If I recall, you were making disparaging comments about me on a completely unrelated topic in an unrelated and thread shortly after I posted up those facts. Ring a bell, Jesse? Oops...What a load of bull.

Really, these arguments by you, trying to make it seem like your actions were justified to upkeep some rule (that nobody can lay eyes on the physical text of or provide, might I add) are just plain sad and disturbing.
You, a moderator, acting in retaliation and closing not only my Mirror retrofit thread, but now also my meter and foot light threads (which have both been around for over a year and longer than you have been a moderator) under some BS guise of “needing to be a vendor” while caring this much about a random person who came to sell a product to the community is concerning.
In fact, you mentioned this individual twice to me in PMs when I asked about my thread, and now once publicly here. That’s pretty telling just in the frequency you refer to them. In the PMs you act like you don’t know the “other poster” but act all buddy-buddy in that thread you opened here as well as over on the other 4Runner site. Is this a buddy of yours from TacomaWorld? Maybe a little quid pro quo going on? If you care about a random one-time product pusher this much, and are willing to delete another members threads months later in retaliation, then maybe you shouldn’t be a moderator here for the sake of this community, admin .
If your feelings were that hurt by me posting in good faith to save other members on here a big headache and quite a bit of money, and by showing the dishonesty in that thread, here’s a lifelong piece of advice: suck it up.
