2016 TE. Just swapped from factory to Icon Stage 2 with tubular UCA's. Plenty of lift. Ever so slightly firmer ride than stock. Handles better. Only one off-road trip so far and the Icon's liked everything from rollers to high speed washboard to a 4WD LO rocks and loose sand in washes. I do trips with lots of gear and am coming from a Yukon with rear airbags/Bilsteins with remote res. - and the 4runner with the stage 2 feels like it can handle a LOT more gear weight. Not kidding. If I had more money I might have gotten up to a stage 5 but now that I have the stage 2 I can't imagine needing more unless you want adjustment and remote reservoirs. I will know more late Feb. as I will be doing some longer distance medium to high speed off-road during the San Felipe 250 in Baja. I went thru 2 sets of rear shocks in those conditions in the past and that lead me to remote res. on the Yukon. My gut says 4runner won't need them.

Thanks guys, I'm waiting on my 16 to arrive and I'm starting to order parts in the meantime, I haul a couple hundred lbs worth of extra gear always so looks like I'll need the icons, it didn't seem like the lift was that high but I guess sacrificing for ride quality... I'm going to be making a pro clone, simply because I cannot get a pro with a sunroof, it doesn't exist

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the TRD suspension, it did fine based on the stock weight envelope of the from the factory vehicle. It however struggled by comparison once you start adding a lot of gack/greebles/racks/etc to it.
I noticed less nose dive on breaking, but on road handling feels about the same, however it's also hard to compare since I did my 33 m/t's at the same time as the ICONs so it was a BIG change and it's hard to attribute the performance to ONE thing or the other.

Not that I don't like the pro suspension...I bought it because I knew I would not have the aftermarket money to buy an after-market, off-road oriented suspension.
Sounds like you will get more out of the Icon for your intended use.
