Has anyone heard whether or not TRD will be releasing a supercharger for the 4.0 V6 in the 4Runner? I know URD is close to releasing one, but that will void the warranty.

TRD had a tent set up at the FJ Summit this year in July and they said it will be out by this time next year.That probably translates to sometime within a couple of years!

I already told my wife that as soon as there was a TRD charger for it, I'd buy one and have it installed with in a week - that is my chief complaint of the 4R is that it's gutless compared to the GX470 we came from - we tried to find a 2009/2008 4WD 4x4 limited v8 and the few we did find were selling for well over 30k, just didn't make sense to not buy a 5th gen

Trust me, I know the feeling. I really want a 4Runner, but the lack of V8 or a supercharged V6 keeps me from buying one. I priced a 4th generation V8 4x4 but it was too much! I priced a GX460 but I am not paying 60k for a V8! Honestly, the GX460 is what the 4Runner should have been interior wise and mechanically.
I drove a Grand Cherokee and like some aspects of it but overall it really did not impress me. I like the features and V8 but the cargo area and reliability history of the vehicle made me think twice.
I have driven Nissans and Toyotas since I’ve been able to drive. As of now I am leaning toward the V8 Pathfinder. It has its drawbacks but overall it is closed to what I need.
What disturbs me is how much Toyota and other Japanese companies seem to be letting the competition win. Ford, Chrysler, and GM are adding 8 speed transmissions and making constant upgrades to their products. Hyundai is working on a 10 speed transmission and is making great strides. Nissan, Honda, and Toyota seem content allowing everyone else to pass them.
After owning a domestic vehicle one time, I said I never would again. For years Toyota, and Nissan were delivering technological and mechanical advances. Now it seems they are idle. I hope this does not continue.
