TRD's on their way!

Yeah RiDE I thought about running Spider Trax Spacers. But other than the looks, it seemed that the drawbacks didn't outweigh the benefits on spacers.

Help me out if I am missing something here... thanks!

I love my Spidertrax spacers. The truck rides and tracks so much better- even with the junk stock tires...

Not sure I really like these wheels. Maybe it is the tires (from the magnetic gray pic above), but in my opinion, I like the SR5 wheels a lot better.

Maybe with aggressive 285 tires and a lift (and a stubby antenna), but on a normal 4runner, I don't like them.

Thanks for the criticism Marlin. Everyone has their likes and dislikes. If you like your SR5 wheels and stock tires then by all means run them. Some like the stock LE 20" setup and that's perfectly fine.

I have had the LE for 1 week. Obviously it's work in process and constructive comments are appreciated.

But it's funny how some like to criticize something so subjective as a tire or wheel selection.

Even if I actually saw a picture or your rig and I hated your wheels, or your tires, or your Stubby antenna... I wouldn't feel the need to post up that I don't like them. But that's just me.

I understand what you mean, but this is a forum. It's a place for discussion. That means both negative and positive comments. People posting honest responses to mods, opinions, and events are what make forums great. :thumb3:

Marlin said nothing offensive, he simply stated his opinion in a respectful way.

I personally don't like your wheels, either. I think they're a bit small on our rigs, but as long as you're happy with them that's all that matters.

Thanks Jake for that lesson on online forums...

Maybe I too should make more time to look for mods that don't appeal to my tastes. I could then post useful comments on how I don't like them, and that they should be done differently... no offense intended of course.

Sure, you can run your 20" wheels and your automatic running boards to tool around in the city, but I don't hold such a high opinion of myself that I feel it's my place to tell you that I don't like your setup. What works for you doesn't necessarily work for me.

But whatever... as you said Jake it's an online forum, so flame away.

One mod at a time... whatever makes you smile when you look at your own rig.
Peace

I guess there's no chance of an adult discussion between us.

Carry on.

When you click that little "post reply" button be prepared for any and all comments, especially on anything cosmetic that is subjective.

Back on topic................

ColoradoFrosty - Nice looking wheels on your truck. I really dislike the stock 20's on my LE, but probably won't replace the wheels until I need tires.

Okki - Be sure to post some pictures when you get yours mounted.

Yeah mpaquette, I do actually like the look of the stock 20"s from the side. They look good but I really needed something more off-road oriented than a 20" wheel. I probably could have dealt with the 20"s for awhile but the 7" wide rim was really the problem. And there are just not a lot of very good options for AT tires on a 20"x7" in my opinion.

Taste in T4R mods - it's somewhat like taste in art or music. I aint gonna hate on someone because their taste in music, unless of course it's Lil' Wayne. (kidding - dont b hatin)

Thanks guys.

Sorry man. Didn't mean to offend you at all. Just gave my honest opinion. The stubby antenna was a joke. Just about everyone on here has one.

No worries Marlin. But holy crap, I didn't mean to come across as such a sensitive noob. I actually do appreciate constructive input...

You all have built an awesome community here, it's quite an amazing resource. Thx.

yo Frosty, sweeet looking rig man!
Okki, make sure to post some pics when you get them mounted.

I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on these wheels for my 4th Gen.

One issue though.. my spare is mounted on a rear tire carrier. I wonder if I can contact TRD and get some extra spline-drive lug nuts and a matching wheel lock. Is that my only option?

Not sure what the options are there... worst case scenario you would have to spend $150~$175 to get the full set of lugs. But I would start with what you already suggested yourself... call TRD.

Okki

I was at a Denver Auto Show preview party last night, and Toyota had a few sets of these on the floor. They had a white Rock Warrior Tundra there with these and 285 BFG A/Ts, and a red Baja edition Tacoma with 265 BFG A/Ts. I think one of the other Tacos had them too... They had a MGM DC Tacoma and a SW TRD Sport Tacoma as well. For 4Runners they had a shoreline blue SR5 with leather, and a silver Limited, both stock wheels & tires.

These wheels look great on both the Tacoma and the 4Runner. The Baja edition Taco was cool, but I can't imagine keeping that huge graphic on the side. I'd be peeling that off on day 1, or better yet, pre-delivery.
