It cost me more than I thought it would, but that's what happens when you buy one part to start a project, then do the rest of the research! :D

Switch was $15 shipped from eBay, relay was about $15 at Autozone (convinced you can get one cheaper from China/Amazon), then connectors (which most people have, but I did not) and such ran me another $10 or so.

I guess you're paying for clean, and auto-reset when you shut down the truck with no switch to remember to flip. That was crucial for me so the wife didn't drive it without VSC. I'd never forgive myself if she lost control because I didn't flip a switch back.

Good to know. Asked the wife if she's had issues with the VSC and she'd rather do without it.
 
Did the pre-99 bumper swap on my 02 last Saturday.

I will write it up later, but you can use your stock 99+ turn signal sockets with the 96-98 bumper. Just use two rubber washer things (pulled the old ones from the 98 turn housings per below)

Re bled the front brakes today. Pedal feels slightly better but I long for even more firmness, less travel. I tried the "back up and crank the ebrake hard" thing last night, three times, didn't seem to change much and I had to pull quite a ways to get the runner to stop. Maybe my rears need taken apart and replaced.

Going to wire the fog lights in the 98 bumper today too. Still not sure I will do the limited flare extensions on it. I don't think it looks bad as is. In fact I've seen a few other types of vehicles that don't have the bumper flares and they look fine. What do ya think?

Sell it, but since I reused my turn signal sockets, i figured I might need to get some new ones, or get 96-98 pigtails for my rig and put my sockets back in the old bumper. I figured whoever wants to buy it might care about which turn signal sockets are in it...but maybe not.
 
Got my fogs working on the 98 bumper last night.



Think I'm going to swap out my 99+ bulb sockets into the corners so I don't have to try and sell a 99+ bumper without the 99+ bulbs/harnesses. That means custom wiring on the bumper I'm keeping, but :yawn:

Quick question, I've been "exercising" my AWD button on and off to get it to engage quicker. It sticks sometimes and takes up to 30 seconds to engage/disengage. I noticed while taking a low speed tight turn that I got wheel bind (tire squeal). Seemed odd to me with open diffs, but I admit I've not researched the hell out of how the system works. Normal?

There are a few. One is not far from me, off Randolph and 40th. Has a roof rack with x-mas lights on it, gray rig I believe?

Then there's another gray rig that is lifted, armored, looks BA but I've never figured out if they're on T4R.
 
hello Fellow Nebraskans!!:hello: good to see I'm not the only one in Nebraska with a runner. Any decent Junk yards with 3rd gens in them around here, im still trying to find a few trim pieces mine is missing.

I've not called on parts before, but a u-pull-it isn't a bad idea. cart-part.com is a good place to search, then sort by distance.

JDog you'll see me driving up and down N 48th, East O, N 33rd, and occasionally South Point. We live off 40th and Randolph, currently.

Normal if you're in 4wd with the diff locked, yeah.
 
Yeah, I didn't think you had a locker, I was referring to the center diff. If you're sure you had it unlocked and it hasn't happened again since, I'd chalk it up as one of those things and forget about it.

That's not AWD, by the way. 4Runners with the center diff have full time 4wd, which is similar to AWD but not the same. ;)

Yeah, Phrasing. The 4WD system is one that I haven't researched extensively, yet.

I've felt slight hesitation and some bind on more than one occasion without touching the Center Diff Lock switch. In fact, I have only hit that button once, a year ago.

Maybe I somehow have a full-time locking rear diff :D

Okay. I usually have mine parked at SCC or by Pershing. But I have lost the running boards so its easier to spot out.
