Around my parts you are required to carry certain items while on Forest service roads. You know, the basics, Shovel, saw, water and the like. I also have a hatchet, mini sledge hammer, wedges for cutting logs, tow straps, fire extinguishers, food, paper for fire starting, magnesium fire starter, maps......
.....so, I just added a plastic page magnifier. I use it for my maps, but it starts a fire in mere seconds! They come in wallet size too. I highly reccomend one.
I'd like to hear your handy items you have found worthy of keeping in the rig.

My loadout changes depending on where I'm going, but some things are always in the truck - hilift, exhaust jack, straps and shackles, air compressor, shovel, pulaski, collapsible bow saw, tool bag, fluids and repair stuff, oh-shit bag with water, snacks, shelter, warmth, firestarters, etc.

Oh, and toilet paper. Always.
