Truck is Dead... Battery arced

I come to you for help.. Again :)

Fixed the EGR system malfunction and replaced the temp sensor and truck is driving great. Had the hood open and went to start the truck and an arc shot up from the negative terminal. It was not touched by anything. Truck is dead.

Replaced the plugs, dist cap, rotor, a couple of months back. Obviously, something caused the battery to arc but battery is still showing 12.3v. Anyone have a list of things to check for? Turn on the ignition and nothing, not even a peep!

Thanks for the help... Again

I would start by pulling both terminals and cleaning them. Put them back on nice and snug and I bet your troubles at over. Just dirty battery terminals. It happens.

There are several high amperage fuses in the engine bay fuse box, check them.
They don't just pull out either, they bolt from underneath.

Thanks Basketcase. I was thinking it was the worst but as I'm learning, start with the simple solution first.

Replaced both terminals and VROOOM, started right back up! Took me a few hours to remove the nut & lock washer on the positive terminal but that PB Blaster worked. Thanks for all your help and suggestions :)
