Turbo 4runner mud fun

In buying turbos alot of the price is just the name stamped in the side. On my supra i bought a $800 turbo and it lasted a couple months. i replaced it with a cheap ebay special for $200 and it was on there for 2 years and still is on it i assume. if you opened up a chinees turbo and a garret turbo and mixed up all the parts you would never even know the difference in parts.

This is why the turbo kit was so cheap. the "blower" MF BAKER was refering to. :)

damnit, i was gonna use that to make a blower for my runner, your saing that a leaf blower and a supercharger blower are not the samething!? FML:wtf:

it looks like a pretty sweet setup, but i still dont understand how they can sell that thing so cheap. bottom line is im just bitter since i cant use it in cali :violin:

The only difference is you have to pull start one, which sucks when you're late for work and it's freezing outside, and your blower won't start.

visual inspection dude. you cant even have an aftermarket intake here thats not carb approved for the specific vehicle and pass. even if an intake in smog legal for a tacoma, it still wont legally cut it on a 4runner. you would have to remove the entire setup and replace the stock airbox. basically if it looks like anything has been altered and theres not a carb sticker you wont pass inspection here, regardless of numbers out the pipe. ive seen people with a completely stock engine get sent to court cause their valve cover was painted. it depends where you are and chances are you can get away with some stuff, but if a cop ever pulls you over and asks to pop the hood and sees that you are looking at more money than the kit originally cost in court and ref fees.

So they are car Nazis... Do they burn books too? I would move, or register my car in a different county.

yes, they are car nazis to the nth degree here. they love smashing cars and sending you to court for no reason. all of cali is like that, has to be registered in another state. i have one car registered in another state, but its not the easiest thing to do now that i have a cali dl. just how it is to live here.

Build looks great man and I love me some turbo! One thing I an wondering is the difference between a name brand waste gate or BOV vs a cheap one off eBay. I know you are using a greddy blow off valve.

I have used both of both on other projects, personaly I wouldn't spend big money on the brand name stuff again. Been about 5 years and the ebay/chinese stuff is still working great at a 1/3 of the price. Not saying the materials and quality are as good but they do their job.

haha stfu!!! i saw this video on youtube earlier tonight and even started a new thread on here w/ the video link LOL no clue this was you!! fukn sweet!!!
