I really enjoyed your build thread. It can be tough to find "medium" or "mild" builds with people who can give you an assessment from that point of view. I own a 2018 Off Road with KDSS with my Mom. Her Jeep Grand Cherokee dropped a valve last Spring and she needed something new. We considered a GX but she sleeps in her rig & it just didn't work right (plus I dislike a sideswing hatch, especially in the PNW). She does 4-6 week trips about 4 times a year while she travels between KC and Seattle. She's 74yo and does alot of remote & solo overlanding with her dog. I primarily drive an old Pathfinder and plan to take over her T4R when she's done with it. In the meantime, however, I do all the modification on it during it's visits out here. A couple questions for you:
Tires: I too am trying to decide between BFG KO2s and Falken Wildpeaks AT3Ws. How do you like yours? Because our rig does lots of long distance travel, we've decided for now not to lift it so we will likely stay with stock size or perhaps +1 if it will fit without a lift.
HIDs: I'm putting in the DDM Saber 50w LEDs for the Highs but I've been uncertain about the lows. I'll definitely do HIDs but I just can't decide on brand. I've used Diode Dynamic LEDs in the past and know they're solid but I see lots of people using Xenon Depot. I'd be curious to see what you think about them, especially with our weather.
LFD Ruggedized Rails: Again for streamlining we are avoiding a full rack (plus we have the sunroof and really like how it lightens up the interior). I only plan to mount a dual 2.25g fuel Rotopack, a pair of X-Bull recovery boards, as short shovel & possibly the HiLift on the rails. Basically stuff I don't ever expect her to need (except the Recovery Boards & maybe the shovel). How do you like the ones you have? Also, what do you think about the steel and our climate? With our weather, I was concerned the holes drilled in them would let water get to an untreated inside and start rusting right away. With that in mind, I was thinking aluminum.
