TXRick Build Thread

Drum roll please.......

......and No Check Engine light for the first time since I have had her!!!!

I finally got around to changing out those knock sensors. I had to take it back apart a couple of time because I ended up having to replace a few o-rings on the injectors. I also found out that the people who the previous owner had rebuild the engine forgot a few items and routed the knock sensor wiring harness wrong, quite possibly causing the failure. I probably only needed to replace the harness but i replaced both of the sensors since I was in there.

After this, I tried to get it a different way...

What ended up happening with the new seats?!

They are still in the garage. School is out June 6 and I am making that my top priority. I am worried that the width between the rails is going to be a problem, so it might be a lost cause. I haven't given up...

Summer is here and I'm planning on getting busy.
First week:
Monday: Clean/wash/detail
Tuesday: Remove bumper and start fixing winch
Wednesday: Spark plugs/wires
Thursday: Projector Retrofit
Friday: Cont retrofit. Make up day because I'm sure I'll get off schedule

Already did this:

And added a 2001 Limited to the mix. DD...for now.

Well things have been rough the last year or so...became a grandfather, bought a house, new job, and a few other sad life situations...I kinda lost my excitement for the runner....and all other things, but I am getting by and am in need of REJUVENATION!!!

Once again....summer is coming and this tired teacher is planning on getting all the parts I have on and installed but first I have to figure out my battery drain problem..................

FIXED*Fix battery Drain
I have unhooked the amps and radio and the battery still dies after a couple of days. I have a multimeter but have never used one and not really sure what all these symbols mean:)

DONE*Aussie Locker+change transfer case and rear diff fluid.

Seats for sale*Install Seats- This has been on the back burner for too long.

Next on list*Still need to find a good shop to align this thing properly

Next purchase*Tundra Brake Upgrade...I get a kluck when shinning into park, reverse or drive. I think its the brakes but could be something else...LOUD LOUD KLUNK

40 more days till no more school, no more books, no more stinkin kids dirty looks and I can get back to having some fun and working with something that doesnt talk back, disrespect or needs a ****ing pencil sharpened....cant wait!!

Have you checked the U-Joints, I would start there rather than blaming the brakes.

CS144 woot!

I think a combo of this and tightening up my battery connections fixed my randomly won't start issue.

I've read a bunch online, watched videos, read stuff on here and I still don't understand how to hook up a light with a switch.

I can get them to work with both of these hooked up to the pos terminal but I'm sure the green goes somewhere else...I'm using the relay that came with my hella 500 on a light bar and otrattw contura switches.

your sorta right. red is relay power and green is power from the switch if I remember correctly from my old hella 700s. you run the green from the battery to the switch and then yellow from the switch to the relay.

FYI i want your grill. haha

I bought a 98 Dodge Durango for $500. Turns out it was a lost starter wire on the battery terminal. Sold it 2 months later for $1800. Electrical issues are fun now!!

I'm glad u figured yours out.

I guess it works fine. Turns on whether the car on or not. I guess that's good. Here's what I got.

Green goes straight to switch. Red to relay.

Nice!

Knock on wood. Still haven't hooked the radio and amps back up...that crap is giving me fits!

I read somewhere that a powered relay could drain the battery so I'm just making sure the lights are right.

Fixed the power drain. I chased it all over and figured it was the radio. Well, i took the blasted thing out and still had the drain. It turns out there is a power unit to the satellite and it was wired direct instead of to a switch. Haven't put the radio back in correctly....but no drain so happy for now.

On to the big project. Had an Aussie Locker sitting on my shelf for about 2 years. I would go through confidence stages but today I said to hell with it, I'm going to bust this thing out.

The PO told me that "something was fixed in the rear." Well, since this was the first time I've pulled the axles, I was pleasantly surprised that the rear axle seals look pretty new. Whoo hoo!

I soaked everything in 50/50 Paint Thinner and used ATF. No problem busting bolts or drain plugs. I also used 24mm sockets on the drain plug as well as foregoing purchasing a flare nut wrench, I used a 10mm. Worked great.

The locker was easy to install as well as all of the prep to get to it. The 3rd member can be cumbersome but no real problems. Thanks for all the help. I even watched gannonrt 's video on youtube.

Which inspired me to takes this on myself...I thought if this guy could do it then....
