You have to also look at it from the true enthusiast's perspective...seeing threads about hey should I pay $xx,xxx vs $xx,xxx but at x.xx% financing; or do you think this new front end is ugly; or do these jeans make my thighs look fat, just kind of get old after a while. Most of us are here to talk about new tips and tricks or mods we've done, or help each other solve problems and issues; not to provide moral support :)

Grammar and punctuation... I can see how mistakes happen but you CAN correct. Run on sentences, on the other hand, are a different beast all together.

FYI, you do not need a comma before; and, or and but.

Anyways, the fascia keeps growing on me. It looks aggressive like a saber-toothed tiger. On a lighter note, it also looks like Brak from, "Space Ghost Coast to Coast".

I couldn't really get myself to like the front end when it was unveiled last year. However, last night pulled up next to a brand new mag grey TE...my first time seeing it up close and in person. I must say if I wouldn't mind trading up if I already start modding my 12' mag grey TE :p

The new TE/SR5 sure do look sharp in person!

For years through all the first 4 generation of 4R's I always thought they looked "ok." Then the 5th gen came out, particularly the TE, and I thought they looked fantastic. The main driver of that for me personally is the front end. I always respected the 4R for its capability and reliability and I've owned a few Toyotas (1994 Lexus ES 300, 1999 Avalon and RX 330 that the wife currently drives) but it was the 5th gen that finally got me to pull the trigger and honestly it had a lot to do with how it looks. That said when I first saw the '14 front I did not like it at all. It is growing on me a little but I still think they messed with the best looking part of the 5th gen design.

Did you ever consider Plastidipping the silver bumper guard black? I love the stormtrooper look but it feels a bit like everybody is doing it (not that what other people are doing to their trucks should matter really, but still it's always fun to be somewhat unique). I was dead set on removing all the silver and chrome on mine but now I'm beginning to like the idea of keeping it. Or painting it bright orange or something. :)

I seem to be one of the few who actually likes the silver parts. My only gripe is the dealer drilled directly into the front one to hang the front plate holder. We don't have front plates in Louisiana so I would have preferred it not even be there. But when I removed it there were 3 glommed up ugly holes in it from an apparent misalignment on their first attempt. I may yet price a replacement one. I just haven't decided to go that route or get a personalized plate for the front. I am considering blacking out the fender flares and door handles though. I'm waiting for a fellow member to Photoshop my profile picture to see how it looks.

I did put these in my rear quarter windows yesterday. Not exactly Stormtrooper but more my generation. Ignore the fat old fart in the bottom of the window....

I like the the silver too. Why not have the dealer replace it since he screwed it up? If you are going to photoshop the flares black have that guy try them silver too. I think the 3rd gen had the flares silver and it had a good look.
 
I don't like the silver chins on the Trail editions. Wish it was black or body color. I plan on painting mine black soon. Removed the front plate mount and will cover the holes with body filler. Stupid front plate laws. It's a shame they have to damage the front end of a vehicle to put these on.

Well, it was a Texas dealer and they do require front plates. I honestly hadn't thought of silver flares but I do recall seeing some on the road now that you mention it. My new wheels are going to have black centers and tungsten colored rims. The online site I test fitted them on has a white '13 4Runner for the preview with black flares and they just really seemed to set off the wheels. We'll see tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

Excellent use of double-double and eh, but it's a wobbly pop because they make you pretty wobbly after you go through a two-four of them.
 
I still think the thing looks like Domo Kun.

I had been planning on buying a new 4runner for as long as I can remember, 7 years ago I bought a 99', finished paying for it and kept saving. As someone else had posted, when I first saw the 14', I shot out bought a 13',

I hate it less than I did when it first came out, still I hope that 2017+ doesn't look like a blowfish.


I haven't been here that long but hell what IS up with all the "what's your opinion" threads and why does everyone keep posting "I bought a new 4runner" thread when there is a perfectly good 5th gen T4R (owner's) picture thread!

Yeah that license plate thing is a pain in the a$$. My last car was a new FJ cruiser and though i live in TX, the one I wanted was up in Kansas. KS doesn't require front plates so when i flew up there to pick it up they had not massacred the front bumper. Then when i drove it back to TX i rigged up a bracket through the lower grill so the bumper remained a virgin... ;):

THAT is the point. With an entitlement mentality it is easy to come to a place like this instead of going to the Toyota website or *gasp* going to a dealer to test drive one. If they do this, they then come here and ask specific questions which we try our best to answer and discuss.

What if the answer to a question was as shoddy and screwed up as the way the question was typed or phrased? You would not be happy, that's for sure. Not everyone is skilled at typing or writing. I get that. I am not very good at it either. I do try however to do my best so that the person reading my prose can understand what I am trying to say. The guy above blamed it on a phone and tablet. If that's all you got fine, slow down so there is not a period. after every. few. words. Sounds like William Shatner talking. I do my best to answer a question. You should do your best asking them.

I have no interest in this fight........but an observation. When someone is arrogant and continuously finding fault, it drives many good people away. They don't want to be around people like this. Adds no value to what this forum is intended to be: A Communication Venue for passing on information based on other members experiences with the T4R. Been around the block a few times in many leadership roles.......what we got here is a keyboard giant hiding behind the screen. In most cases, when met in person, demonstrates timid and true nature. I didn't miss the point, I just won't listen to your acid comments. Look me up and send me a PM if we need to discuss more.:rockon:
