Yep it has plenty of power! There are mods available to improve throttle response - Electronics won't do anything for power gain in a naturally aspirated motor but you can adjust where the power is available to a degree.
For the most part it sounds like you guys are lamenting the the low end torque traditionally available in Trucks that achieved 8 - 12MPG. Who doesn't love that but the 4R isn't that vehicle. It's designed to be a capable off road vehicle and to address contemporary economic concerns regards it's commuter functions. In saying that - it's plenty capable with an adjustment of driving style.
There's a few threads about the different mods but I think the first upgrade anyone should make to the vehicle should probably be the suspension. If this truck had gobs of low end torque the nose would be bouncing around too much. I'd love a supercharger on my 4R but with the stock suspension it would just make the vehicle dangerous to drive imho. If 4R performance is a genuine concern the best place to start is the suspension.
I don't mean to sound like one of those know it all internet jerks who talk people down to bolster their low self esteem - that's really not my style. But it honestly just sounds like some of you guys really didn't understand the vehicle before you purchased it and now your scratching your heads wondering why it doesn't drive like a Big Ol American Truck.
